    Noah update

Thanks everyone. He really is a DREAM of a puppy, has a wonderful temperament, easy to live with, very affectionate etc. Here he is with my other two dogs - Reilly is the sable boy, Ebony is the tri girl :)

    Homecooked meals

It's going to be hard for you to balance that diet. You do need to add a calcium source, and you do need to add the same nutrients that offal/liver provides.

    Neutering questions

Testosterone doesn't dictate those aspects of a dog's temperament, they are inherent in your breed. All it will do is potentially decrease dog to dog aggression and his interest in in-season bitches.

Generic Heartguard / MDR1 gene question

No, do not give a dog that could have MDR1 invermectin products. When you have options, is it really worth risking death?

    AHHHH! The itching!

It's really not time consuming after you figure things out initially :) It's a matter of reaching into the freezer to take out a portion and dump it in the bowl :)

    Vaccinations

I think that depends on how different the two strains are AND whether the vaccinations are updated to cover the new strains anyway. In the case of parvo - vaccinations weren't 'updated' to include the new strain anyway. If the two strains are similar enough in structure some seem to believe...

    Vaccinations

I'm not sure but I don't think you can titer test for Bordatella. I don't think everyone really understands how titer tests work because I don't think many of us truly understand how the immune system works, maybe there just isn't enough information and too many vets are clueless about it. One...

    Heartworm Med

I wouldn't be giving any ivermectin products to a herding breed. The daily tabs are actually the safest heartworm product, but MUST be given daily and never missed.

If you picked only by appearance..

The breed I already have - Collie Rough. I really still don't think there is any breed that can top the look of a gorgeous sable or blue merle Collie :) I also LOVE Salukis, Long haired Weimaraners, Borzois, Malamutes, or a long haired GSD.

    Noah Photos

Australia :) It's amazing what he's been called when we've gone out to socialise him - a husky, aussie shepherd, border collie, bitsa...you name it!

Is it shallow to pick a dog based on colour?

I don't see why it's shallow. I specifically wanted a blue merle this time around as I already have a sable and tricolour. It's only stupid if you deliberately choose a pup that's wrong for you just because it's that colour - this is a very different thing than setting out from the beginning...

    Advice on dog/puppy interaction

Oops I didn't mean Parvo in the house....I mean there's been a small outbreak in the immediate area and so I have to be quite careful where I take him. I've only had him since Sunday. I was surprised at his reaction to the other dog because he has seemed so confident with everything else...
