BOMBERS STRANGE BEHAVIOUR SOLVED, but sad

I cannot express how very sorry I am about Bomber. I would be devastated, as I'm sure you are. I looked at the link you posted, and if any puppies in a litter have it, both parents should be spayed immediately. I would get in touch with your breeder again, and make sure that they understand...

    Hip Dysplasia in GSDs

Hip dysplasia in and of itself doesn't always cause problems. It's usually the arthritis that results from the hip joints not fitting together well that causes pain for the dog. You can tell with many dogs whether or not they have hip dysplasia by looking for the following symptoms: 1. Sway...

    What could go wrong?

I was recently at my vet's office, and a couple came in with a litter of new cocker spaniels. They were there for their tail docks. My vet said she just breaks their tails so they won't feel them being cut off. I used to have a Cocker and never gave it much thought, but, they were cute with...

    Neuter

check around for other vets. That's too much for a neuter, and that vet will probably overcharge you for everything.

Rice cooked in chicken broth will also work in a day or two

    Another Abscess

My dog had a swelling below his eye a few years ago. I thought it was a bee sting as it went away in just a few days. Then it came back, and again went away. I took him in to have his teeth checked. One of his teeth was abscessing, which was the swelling I'd see, and then drain into his...

    Tuna for dogs?

With Water Only Tuna packed in vegetable oil tends to give dogs the runs. Packed in water does not seem to have the same problem.

    Overweight Dog!

Often, it's not the feedings, but rather the treats that can make a dog fat. Dogs love to help eat chips, etc, and just like us, they go right to the waist. Instead of doggy treats, try baby carrots. Personally, I think dogs should be fed twice a day, even as adults. Just split the daily...

    The never-ending ear issue

I had a cocker spaniel with similar ear problems. The vet thought it might be food allergies, and we put him on "Limited Ingredients" food. It helped some. I found that if I cleaned his ears every other day with just a damp washcloth...no special solutions.....we could stay on top of the ear...

trying to decide when the time is right to let a loved one go

I feel for anyone who loses a pet. I've been through it a few times myself, but somehow I find comfort in this and wanted to share it. A Dog for Jesus (Where dogs go when they die) I wish someone had given Jesus a dog. As loyal and loving as mine. To sleep by His manger and gaze...

    Question about flea treatment

Just wanted to add my thoughts. I live in NC, where we also have fleas year round. My vet said that Frontline has the same active ingredient that's in head lice shampoo. So I use the same reasoning I'd use for head lice shampoo. If my dogs have a flea, I put Frontline on them, if they don't...

    When to spay?

I'll just throw in that I agree with everyone here. The earlier the better. But I will say this from my own experience....should she go into heat before, wait until she's back out of heat to do it.

    Torn dewclaw, what to do?

I'd definitely see your vet. Had that happen to my dog, took her to the vet, they removed the torn nail, got the bleeding stopped, bandaged her up and that was it. She was good as new in a day or two and grew a new nail within a few weeks.
