Is there a better way of grooming?

well, as stated, I dont know the thickness of the coat...even terriers have different coat types...most can have A LOT of undercoat....some dont. Some have that dense cottony coat that matts as soon as it gets damp...and has to be shaved or stripped out. Can a coat king be used to do this? Yes...

Is there a better way of grooming?

Wow there are a lot of strong opinions on this forum. Everyone has different experiences to go on regarding dematting and coat kings and in my defense Ive had good ones. I dont know the coat type of this dog...or at least I couldnt find an accurate description...a course coat king(like a 6-8...

    small clipper recomendations

well, andis and oster professional models are both good quality. Avoid the "pet" model clippers. They are the equilalent of human clippers: not strong enough to do the job. sounds like you would be cutting her very short so a #7FINE (used in reverse) or 10 blade (with the lie of the coat) is...

    Finding a groomer

I am a groomer. We like to see pups as soon as they have had their shots...about 10- 12 weeks....their first experience at the groomers is the most important one they can ever get...it will either give them confidence or send them home scared....Im not saying this to upset you, just to encourage...

    Standard Poodle

Not sure what you are asking for...a picture of a white poodle thats coat is over grown? If so a poodle's coat will eventually cord like a puli or komodor if not kept brushed and allowed to grow out. today's "goldendoodle" mix is pretty close to what a pure bred standard would look like if its...

    Clipper advice

you want animal clippers made by either oster or andis....do not get the "pet clippers"..they are basically the same as the human ones...get the professional clippers. One speed is enough for your needs. They come with a #10 blade...that is like the size that groomers use to shave poodles faces...

    Nail Clipping Question

I see a lot of dogs that have the same problem. (Im a groomer). These nails can be a challenge to safely cut due to them curling back into the dogs' leg so tightly sometimes. And They just dont want to extend out like the other nails can when you need to cut them. With most dogs I have found...

    How much do you tip?

Hi there guys. Im a groomer...I would say that most people, even those who are happy with your grooming dont know that they should tip. As a groomer I appreciate it when the customer does tip....especially if I went out of my way to accommodate the owner and the dog. I believe a customer should...

    Question for Aussie owners

yah, the working bred dogs more closely resemble the original aussies. Aussies bred for show/companions are built a bit bigger and have more coat. But they are all aussies...great dogs, tough and fun. (not sure about those minis though!)

    Question for Aussie owners

I was wondering...is grizzley the pup in the picture on your post? He is cute. If you want you can "glue" his ears down so he will keep the aussie look...when they teeth sometimes it effects their ears...if you dont glue them now they will remain sticking up. My aunt had a shelty that had the...

    Question for Aussie owners

Hi there. A lot depends on the breeding lines he is from. Did you get him from a breeder? If so they should be able to tell you what is normal at what age for their dogs. Some pups gain wieght early and then taper off the closer they get to a year old. Try going to the united states australian...

help! any obedience trainers out there?!

update: took her out to the park and lake tonight this time with the kids. Went with hotdogs in hand and a prong collar for a backup. She was near excellent for her loose leash walk at the park despite her excitement and concern for her family's location. Only needed a prong collar on to...

    Books you've read

two of my favorites: "good owners great dogs" just a great practical training guide by brian kilcommon and "lessons from a sheepdog" by...I cant think of his name....a great nonfiction story. Dekka: I will have to look for "clean run"....who wrote it? We are starting advanced beginners...

What Treats To Use For Training?

yah, we use diced up hotdog when we dont have anything else...small bits of soft treat is best I find because then you dont have to wait for the dog sit there and chew it...and if they wolf it down like my dog...its small enough that they dont choke on it. I normally save meat scraps...
