there was a small pond built for starting dogs on water retrieves. One side was level with the ground for puppies and had a gradual gradation so you could start them out by just tossing in a little and graduate to where they were not able to touch the bottom. Then after their confidence was built you could take them around the side for glorious leaps like Ranger her.
