BB, this may sound a bit harsh as it is so soon...

But have you considered getting you another pal? I know personally how great it is to have another dog to lean on when another goes.

It may seem too soon, but it just may be what the doctor ordered for you.
I want to. I really want to! Just to have another pal to lean on and make it seem not so lonely. I can't though.

Oh how I wish I could go and save one of my friends at the shelter. I just so can't. Not with how horrible I am financially right now and how little time I have. :( Man I wish I could though.

Don't you help out at the shelter though?

Maybe you can talk to them about possibly letting you get one, even though you can't financially? Or do you mean you can't afford to feed one?

Oh, I just read you said you don't have time...

I'm just trying to help you...I don't like seeing anyone hurting over anything... so please don't take it as pushy.

Gah, I wish I could be there with ya... just to give you a hug.

Don't worry AC, it didn't seem pushy at all.

I just don't know how I'd be able to give a new dog the time it would deserve if I did get a new dog. I just don't think it's the right time. :(

I was thinking of fostering a dog through the shelter, but I don't think I could handle that right now. Getting a dog and getting attached and then having to give him back up. :( I think that would just make this worse.

I'm thinking money as far as enough mainly for vet care as well as feeding/toys/etc. I don't know if this is just me, and really strange, but I'd feel really weird if another dog played with Lucas' toys. :( Same goes for his bed and leashes. They still feel like his.

Oh yeah... what you should do is take some of his stuff and make a memory box... take his fave toy, his fave leash and collar... all sorts of thins and make a memory box out of it.

I understand about the fostering too... I can't do it either. I'd be overrun with so many dogs... I wouldn't be able to give them up.

I'm so sorry. Lucas will always be in your heart and memories. Try to think of all the good times you shared. You're going through a tough time right now but know Lucas is watching over you.

That's a really good idea, AC. I think I'm going to make some kind of memory box and picture things so he has something to honor his existence and all the great things he's done for me! He was such a good dog.

Thanks Barb.

I'm so, so sorry, BB. :( Lucas was gorgeous and so special. I went back into his pictures and he had the most gorgeous sweet eyes. You were so lucky to have had him in your life.
RIP beautiful, sweet boy.

THe right one will come along at the right time. I think REnee is right, Bronki sent Victor. Lucas will send you the angel he wants you to be with, a gentle nudge in the right direction, a tug of the heart. Financially and time are huge factors that i only wish more people would realize. AT the same time, i don't think you should be unconnected from the kind of love only a dog can give. I am so grateful for your shelter work to keep the touch if you know what i mean. Is it possible the shelter would let you foster "with their help"? I would think a home setting for a senior is better then staying in a facility.:(

Oh BB (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))). Trust me I understand how much he meant to you, it's easy to see how much you love him though your posts.

Just know that he is still around and will be at peace now. Talk to him still, send your heart love to him because he will recieve it, I know that much.

I just wanted to say I am so very sorry for your loss.

Years ago I had a very ill dog who crashed suddenly, and I had to make a quick decision, just as you did.

I spent years second guessing myself, wondering if there was something else I could have or should have done, but there was not. The only thing we can do in these situations is release the dog from their pain filled bodies, it is our final act of great love for them.

I will keep you in my thoughts. Even though it might not feel like it now, time will help heal your broken heart, and one day you will think of Lucas and smile with the good memories instead of the raw pain of loss and grief.

RIP ^Lucas^.....

My heart is just broken for you.
I don't think that's strange at all.

They just started the adult dog fostering program. I guess if I can see if they can get a more laid back dog that didn't need a bunch of attention, I think that could work. But then again there's still the problem of having to give them up eventually. :( I don't know.

I don't think I want to do that right now anyways. It's too soon I guess. :(

Just might be a passing friend to hold your hand while your heart hurts so much. I wish i could send you Mary. She knows what it feels like, and she would sit close by for you I know i have shed many a tear on her shoulder. When we lost Bronki we wept together. You will know what is right for you.

LB, I am saying this a kind as I can... there are places for questions and second-guessing and there are places for condolences, uplifting words, and compassion. Read through all other 5+ pages, then read your reply and you'll know what I mean.
