Since they are free-fed it gets washed about once a week.

They get fresh water every day though, and if I am getting it I usually wash the bowl too.

We rinse the dishes with soap and water after every meal. The water dish is rinsed out multiple times a day, and filled up with fresh water.

We also wash the food dishes everytime we run the dishwasher... everyday or every other day :)

As I feed dry kibble...puppy dishes washed 3 x daily, adult dishes--water, washed & refilled 2 x daily, [and checked in between] feed bowls washed about every other day but at least weekly, more often if needed.

our dogs bowls don't get washed heaps often, i've been meaning to do it for a couple of days, i might go do it aftre i finish this.

but they only relaly get 1-3 days a week when they'll use their dishes. thats when we cook them stuff at home or want to give them biscuits. other than that they just get a pile of bones in the backyard.

i figure, if their happy to bury a bone in the backyard, dig it up 2 days later and continue eating, then reusing their bowls a couple of times won't hurt. lol.

those 3 day old bones are gross though

Basically whenever they get icky... about once a week. Ilsa is the official Cleaner of Dishes around here, so she leaves he bowls spotless after every meal.

My dogs don't have their own bowls. They eat out of the same dishes as I do so I put down their food and after they are done the bowls go into the sink. So their dishes get as washed as often as mine do and that'd be daily.

Sounds like everyone uses only one food bowl. The secret is, have three. Used ones get into the dishwasher regularly and there is always a fresh clean bowl for each meal.

Every time before I fill the food bowl I wash it. Same goes for the water bowls. I'm VERY picky about what I eat out of, why shouldn't he be? lol

Now there's an idea! I have (or had lol) two or three other food/water bowl sets for Lucas, but I always loose them. lol

That's a good idea Tosca's Mom. Mine have rubber around the outside wonder how they'd do in the dishwasher.. I have 2 down as side by side water bowls.. and two others one for each dog when he gets here..

Not often, when it gets gross. But everything is double and triple licked, so it's not too bad.

The water bowl is rinsed when I refill it, so usually up to 6 times a day.

That is a good idea, TM. I'd need 9 bowls, though! lol. My chis all eat different amounts of food, so it's easier for me to use "their own" bowls so I know who gets what.

Not very often.

The water bowl gets washed daily though. At least it's supposed to--my brother is the one who fills up the food and water bowls, I'm sure he forgets to scrub it sometimes.

I feed raw and feed them outside. The dish is little more than a carrying vessel for me, as soon as they start to eat they pull everything out of the bowl and put it on the ground. (so much for a clean place to eat Aussie Red!) After they are done they lick their bowl clean, and then go lick each other's clean. I rinse them before each meal but only dishwasher them once a week or so.
I was just wondering if you have a special problem with me ?? The majority here clean the dishes daily why smart off to me because I think my dogs should have a clean dish daily ? I don't care for dirt of any kind in my home thank you.
