I know which one I'd rather be left in a room with.
I clearly see Dizzy's point and have to agree. Somebody alert the media.:D

It is true that I would rather be left alone in a room with a badly trained, ill tempered, or badly bred Pug than a badly trained, ill tempered, or badly bred dog on that list . With the Pug, I might get hurt, but I can tell you for sure I will win the battle in the end. There really is no realistic comparison of the odds and the damage one could do vs. the other.

Ah but you've never been in a room with Bruzer when he's hungry! :) That is a pug who will take no prisoners! Just kidding of course....

I think Dizzy makes some good points. Most dogs from working/herding/terrier breeds will do what they are bred to do. Sometimes this means "herding" a car into the highway, or chasing down the neighbor's Pom, or protecting the backyard from a 5 year old. It's the responsibility of the owner to be aware of these instinctive tendencies and make sure that the dog does not act inappropriately.

Gigantic dogs are bigger. Therefore, they're more dangerous. Does that mean they're the only dogs that can hurt you? Of course not. A bazooka is more dangerous than a handgun but does that mean you're going to laugh when someone shoves the latter in your face?

Any dog can be dangerous in the hands of irresponsible owners, and I think it's silly to argue over which is more deadly.

Sorry, but some of the dogs on that list are just hilarious. I would have put some of those breeds in the top 14 nicest breeds, LOL!

Once again, I think lists like this are driven by uneducated people who don't truly understand dogs and their thoughts and opinions are driven by media hype and fear. Last time I checked, it wasn't smart to base any decision off of emotion alone!
SHOW pug 5 Star post!!

To the others "dangerous" vs "protective" are 2 different things.

Dangerous are breeds prone to be owner dominant any dog bred to be protective and owned by a good owner is less apt to bite than the Joe Smo Lab owned by the Novice owner.

Thus the owners and DANGEROUS not the DOGS...

I take most of the rare breeds on that list over a inbred popular dog any day. Dogs bred to defend are much easy to predict then dogs bred to be lap dogs. Ive seen first hand more little dogs owners allow their dogs to lunge snap and act up but if a Pit does it or any big breed they make a face.

Ive had my dogs attacked from flexi lead JRT more often than I can remember.

So again DANGEROUS people and NOVICE dog opinions on breeds they have NEVER met but cut and past stupid lists.

LOl it is Yoda I beleive. It was in the competition for the worlds most ugly dog.

To the breeds on the list, you have to train these dogs and teach them that you are boss! If they don't think of you as boss they will rule over you which could result in horrendous consequences. Some of those dogs are extremely hard working breeds of dogs. You have to keep their minds stimulated. Without training and work I can see how those breeds and any other breed could become dangerous. The fact is dogs aren't angels, they will only obey and work at the level which they are taught at, it's up to us humans to gain that repect. We can only expect what we give, if you treat that dog in a negletful, spitful way it will treat you in the exact same way with a bite or worse.

I notice Miniature Dachsund didn't make the Ugly-List.

My Grandmother had one named *Sugar* that was the absolute meanest dog I have ever known. Sugar bit me at least 20 times, and ripped the cuff on a half-dozen pair of pants.

Sugar passed away several years ago and is with The Angels now.

Very soon, I will be black listed by this forum for being offensive to some people :(

I repeat, the stupid list (I agree) was not created by me. I don't even know the names of most breeds.

... Maybe you can see from the list and aware the cultrual difference between western and eastern..

What else I can say, the more I say, the more offensive I am :hail:

All dog breeds can be dangerous if allowed to be through wrong training methods or abuse, neglect etc.

To me the dog that I would be most afraid of is a big dog powerful dog that has been trained for protection but has turned on humans and now believes that it is the Alpha Male. because it has been trained to make the best use of its natural abilities this makes it a dangerous weapon indeed.

This is a problem when amatuers try to train these dogs and get it wrong.
can be pretty scary

I think this whole dangerous dogs arguement is like the **** rifle association arguement.

Guns don't kill people - people kill people.

And in the words of Eddie Izzard.

"The NRA says 'Guns don't kill people, people kill people'. Well, the gun helps.."

Tony since you ignore my emails I am making (C) complaints .

If it was any of yours dogs depicted on a stupid non research list made from net experts . None of you would stand for it.

Ive turned down TV shows that wanted to depict large breeds as aggressive I sure as bumpers did not or would not give permession for a stranger to take my pic and use it in that manner.

Especially on the first therapy dog of the breed in the WORLD!
As I told the Border inspectors last week after crossing to USA from Mexican world show. When asked are the dogs aggressive? I replied no they are not when pushed again I said they are PROTECTIVE _ not aggressive and if you hit me they will PROTECT that was for the 2 Filas and one CAS in the back of the truck.

If I can tell Armed police officers to get educated, I can tell a net person just as easy who uses my pic to pass on unreseached net gossip.

Makes me feel that maybe the rumour in school of getting pregnant if you sit on the public toliet is still buzzing around - sad

And Tony would NEVER asked for you to get Banned rather have you here so maybe you can learn something TRUTHFULL vs Myths.
