When I was in Indiana, it seemed like EVERYONE had a Goldendoodle, or knew someone who did. I'm pretty sure I saw more Goldendoodles than I did actual Golden Retrievers or Poodles. Beyond that, there was actually quite a lot of diversity. Retrievers, Terriers, Pointers, Setters, Spaniels, Herders, Toys, the list goes on.

In shelters, there were typically Pit Bulls, generic Lab type mixes, and generic "farm dog" mixes (Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, etc.).

Here, however, I feel like the most popular "common" breed of dog are Labradors and Chihuahuas. And if it isn't a Labrador or Chihuahua, it is a mix of them. Or a Pit Bull. And instead of there being generic farm dog mixes in shelters, there are generic hunting dog mixes (generally Cur/Catahoula type dogs). It is definitely odd for me to see so many hound-type dogs instead of so many herding-type dogs. Corgis are actually rare down here.

What's popular in your area?

Boston
- Frenchies
- Pugs
- Doodle (goldendoodle/cockapoos/maltipoo specifically)
- Wheaton Terriers
- Lab mixes (rescue dogs from down south are much more popular)

Miami
- Ironically enough...APBTs! lol so much for the ban...they are everywhere.
- Yorkies (big ones, small ones..)
- Chihuahuas
- Huskies (also weird considering the heat)
- Smaller spitz mixes
- Malinois (there are a few local private security places that breed them, they end up in shelters a lot, they aren't popular enough to be on condos restricted breeds list so they are becoming quite popular)

Border Collies are by far the most popular. Chihuahuas, hounds and goldens are close behind.

Not nearly as popular as border collies, but more popular than many other breeds, malinois.

Pits and pit mixes, and goldendoodles. If you see somebody out walking their dog, odds are extremely high it's going to be a pit or pit mix of some kind. If somebody tells you "I just got a dog!" odds are high it's going to be a goldendoodle.

Lots of labs and goldens. Lots of doodles. Some beagles, shepherds, and retired racing greyhounds. Smaller fluffy things for the old people (shih tzus, bichons, etc). Lots of mutts from down south. Other than that, there's a pretty wide mix of purebreds.

I would say in no particular order that I see a lot of the following:

- Labs and 'mostly lab mixes'
- Goldens
- Pit bulls
- Aussies and Mini Aussies
- Labradoodles and Goldendoodles
- small designer dogs
- German Shepherds
- Huskies
- Corgi
- Border Collies
- Chihuahua
- schnauzer

And really I think that covers most the dog population here... I can only think of a couple of my non dog people friends that have dogs that aren't labs or shepherds or huskies.

At the park most dogs are aussies, mini aussies, border collies, labs or goldens. Or a doodle

Most my neighbors have pit bulls.

At the agility trials probably 70-80% of the dogs are border collies. Schnauzers, MAS, and corgis are the most popular small agility breeds here.

Must depend on the part of Indiana.....I don't know anyone (besides internet) that has a goldendoodle/labradoodle or any kind of 'intentional' poodle mix.

What I see most in my area are a lot of lab & lab mixes, boxers, pit & pit mixes, and poorly bred chihuahuas.

Pit/Pit mixes and ACD mixes. Everywhere. Also, like in most places, we have a lot of Labs/Lab mixes

Specific to my little town -- GSDs & Bernese Mtn Dogd. There's a German shepherd club that gets together every Sunday and walks 30+ GSDs around town. After those two, I'd probably say yorkies and labs.

Agility we see a lot of BCs, Aussies, schnauzers, Goldens and Shelties.

Labs labs labs labs.

Boxers are getting super popular too. When we had Molly she was rarity and no one knew what she was. Now I know of at least 6 boxers just in my neighborhood.

I'm starting to see a lot of Wheatens too?

-small, non shedding mixes and purebreds (shih tzu, poodle, bichon, and crosses of each)
-labs and lab mixes
-shepherd mixes
-beagles

Those would be the most popular and commonly seen when out and about.
