My sister's husband told her he's ready for another sheltie in the house.

So we've been texting and I found an agility prospect puppy. She's e-mailing about him. AND HE'S SO SUPER CUTE I CAN'T STAND IT AUGH

So hopefully my sister will get a puppy and the chick crew will get a new nephew! =D

I'm very likely going to get a puppy late winter. I'm just torn whether to go with another lab (female, black preferably) or go with a smaller breed. I'm sure I'll make up my mind soonish.

Do what I did, and get a Chessie! :D That's what happens when you can't decide between a black Lab or a smaller breed. You get a Chessie.

So after I posted last night I found a puppy and recommended him to my sister. She e-mailed the breeder. It's a cute as heck little blue merle and the breeder has him listed as a performance prospect, and he looks nice and smart and bold, but not too wild (AKA Payton.) I think he'll make a nice little dog for her.

We're hoping she hears back. And I hope she takes him because if she doesn't I will be severely tempted oh God. There was video of him playing in a tiny puppy tunnel. And another video where she had him snuggled in her arms and he was on his back like a baby and she was getting his belly. IT'S LIKE A CALMER, BLUE MERLE PAYTON. FFFFFFFFFFFFF

ETA: My sister just texted me, she e-mailed her back and is going to call and talk to her today EEEEEEEEEEE PUPPY

So I've finally kind of reset myself to not having Mirapuppies and all that planning energy is now going to into NewPuppy and I am getting really excited even though I am probably still 6-12 months out depending on when the girl comes into heat and whether the breeding succeeds). A very closely related litter has been bred and the girl was just confirmed pregnant so I am looking forward to visiting them when they are around 6-8 weeks old to see what they are like :)

Mods -- is there any chance we could get this thread stickied like the 2013 one so we can find it back easily? :)

I'm VERY excited to start Ibizan Hound Puppy Watch thread #2 next summer! :)

Parents will be Fenix X Poison, who just so happens to be the sister of Bentley which is the pup I got back in Feb. 2010 (see original Ibizan Hound Puppy Watch thread in breeding forum)

Here's the two lovebirds. Fenix on the left and Poison on the right:

Hoping the breeding takes with lots of baby girls to choose from!
Gorgeous parents, I especially like Fenix. Ibizans have been really catching my eye lately. Not that I will be getting another dog for eons. But they sure are pretty!

Black lab, definitely. That way I can live vicariously through you :p
I think that's what I'm probably going to end up with. I'm having a hard time deciding but I so want my black female.

You need one of these!

He's adorable! Congratulations on your new pup, Muttkip. :D

Well, with 3 votes in favour already....

Haha, was that how you decided? Abrams is a beautiful dog and I do really like Chessies. But I think lab wins over the unknown. I feel too attached to the breed to get a different retriever.

If you go the chessie route I know a great local breeder. ;)
Tempting!

I'm having a real hard time finding a local lab breeder. There are some fabulous bench breeders around but I want to find someone in the middle. I was going to go with a breeder in washington but I don't think she'll have puppies in the time frame that would be ideal for me. She just whelped one litter and it has all chocolates, but they're spoken for anyways. I think I'm going to email her anyways since I don't seem to be having any luck in alberta. But I still need to dig!

Also, for anyone who might have any good leads, please PM me if you know of any good breeders within BC, Alberta, Sask, WA, and Montana.
