So... I've been reading old threads and it got me thinking; how many of you own your dream dog or dream breed?

Do I own my dream dog? I think so... I have one cool little dog. He has his quirks but is everything I wanted in a dog. We do obedience, we do agility, and there are other things I would like to try with him I think he'd excel at. He's seriously an awesome dog. He got me hooked on Cockers. The only things I don't like about him are his coat is really grooming intensive and he can be mildly reactive to people sometimes.

As far as dream breed? I just love dogs. There are many different breeds and types of dogs I could easily live with so I don't know I have a dream breed. I will always own one. Looking at Field Bred Cockers for my next dog.

I think I do. I grew up with terriers and decided I didn't want more, so I had a pretty blank slate to start with. I did my research, and I think I ended up with a fantastic breed. Sure there are other breeds I would love to own, but if you go through what I really want in a dog, Welsh Springers fit that pretty darn well. Overall they are wonderful dogs - great companions, versatile and handler oriented enough to compete in most sports, and just generally sweet dogs. I think they're a great compromise for someone who likes the sporting breeds, but doesn't want a dog who is a total nutter (maybe only somewhat of a nutter :p). I don't know if I would ever want to breed, but I'm happy to carry on the male line and do my part to keep nice dogs in the breeding population.

Is my current dog my perfect dog? He's young still so I don't know. His temperament can't be beat - he's incredibly stable, confident, and outgoing. He's an awesome dog and I love him to death. The only thing I'm waiting to see is how his brain grows in, since he is still a bit all over the place, but when he's focused and engaged, he's awesome. He has more drive than I was expecting, and harnessing it has been a challenge when combined with his lack of impulse control. Haha

I do! Knew that I eventually wanted a sighthound and a herder, so I went with a Koolie and Silken. They are perfect for me and complement each other so well. Seriously couldn't have dreamed up a better pair. I was a little nervous about importing my Koolie ("What if they're too much dog for me?") but I really really lucked out with Circus. At 7mo she is a super calm and quiet pup inside... but when you take her out to a field, disc in hand she turns into a BEAST.

I really lucked out with Lugia, too. 2 of her littermates turned out kinda shy, and Lugia's not like that at all. She's got good nerves, both food and toy-motivated and just such a delight to train. I think she's also the only Colorado Silken who'll do a flying leap after a disc :D

I own my ultimate dream dog right now :D Dekka is everything I want in a dog. Sure there are some things like her dog reactivity that I don't love, but things that make her the way she is might also be some of the things that lead to that reactivity...

I wanted a JRT for years before I got one. So they are my dream breed. Though thanks to Maf I now want a crestie, and I still want a Winston.. I mean Basenji one day ;)

I have my dream dog! Crossbone is the coolest dog I know and is everything I've ever wanted.

Because Crossbone isn't a breed, the dream breed opening is still available in my house hoping to be filled by awesome someday!

I love both of my dogs very much and they are very good dogs, but each have a couple of quirks that keep them from being my "dream dog"

However, danes are my dream breed

Dream breed.... ugh it's so hard to know, but yes I think boxers are pretty fantastic for me.

Dream dog... Juno has her faults and her quirks, things that I wish were different. Ultimately though she is really freaking awesome and I find myself wondering how on earth I'm going to ever get another dog like her. So, eh, she checks off most of my boxes. :p

With one exception, Siri is absolutely my dream dog. I do not think JRTs are my dream breed though. Because I don't think Siri is very typical for a JRT.

I did. My Byron passed this summer though and I have to at least wait a bit after baby's born for another. I said four years but I am so sad without a doofy Velcro dobe to love. But I have t heard back from my first choice breeder:(

The house is just so empty. Convincing me even more its my breed.

My dream breed, yes. American Pit Bull Terriers will always have my heart. Of course, there are other breeds that I love and want too but APBTs are my main priority.

My dream dog, close but not quite. I think my dream dog would be a mix of all of my current dogs. Bayleigh almost has it all but she has some little things that keep her from being everything I want in a dog.

I absolutely ADORE my Vizsla. The one thing is she doesn't have enough drive for me ..if I could find one with more drive, I would stay firmly in the cuddle butt camp forever. As it is, I'm venturing into herding territory for my next dog! Need an agility prospect I won't be fighting an uphill battle with ahah

As far as my dream dog ..I didn't get her for agility so any title or Q she manages to get is icing on the cake. The Border is my agility dog so yes. When I consider her original reason for coming into my world (do anything with, running partner, smuggle buddy) she is 100% my dream dog.

Nola is my dream dog. I could not ask for a better dog who compliments my personality perfectly than her.

I don't have a "dream breed" exactly. I do have a list of breeds I will own in the future though:
Border Terrier
Saluki or Silken Windhound

I consider Cricket my dream dog. She is wonderful... has her quirks, but a great dog overall and perfect for me...

As far as owning my dream breed. Ibizans are my dream breed and I love my boy. I will own more beezers in the future for sure and I'm already planning for my next one.

The ACD is really my primary, dream breed. I don't think it is the only breed I will ever own, but I do feel the need to always have one in my life.

Romeo is perfect. He is my dream dog in temperament, except for his health issues. I wouldn't have felt the need to get a puppy if he hadn't been losing his vision. Fiona is awesome, but given she's only like 14 weeks-time will tell if she is a dream dog as well :rofl1:. She's crazy.

I wouldn't change having Skye or Zoie either, but their temperaments aren't totally in line with what I would consider 'dreamy'. Skye is challenging to me, and so every small goal we accomplish feels huge, and that's cool..but not necessarily my 'ideal'!

Yes and yes. Terriers are my dream breed and teagan is perfect for me. A boerboel is a breed I've wanted for a very long time. So he is a dream come true and so far he is perfect for me and Tyler.
