Tollers. I love the breed. I've met a few and they just make my heart melt BUT I am a herding dog lover through and through.

When I was muuuch younger I was obsessed with Shar Peis - now there's now way I'd want one as they just are so far from what I look for in a dog!

Add me to the list on those who initially wanted a GSD and have started to change opinions. Now that I've had a Mal, I don't think I could go to a GSD. LOL

TBH, I'm pretty darn happy with my Mals, ACDs, and herding mixes!

I have a dog for you....his names Judge and he is a PITA. LOL

I click better with Terriers. I love them all, almost.
:rofl1: It'd be like welcome to the club! Even being mixes the girls can be real jackasses when the mood strikes, gotta love em.

I think its hilarious that we're polar opposites on which we click with better!

Dobermans...when I had Lyric, I loved that dog and breed so much, I thought I'd always have at least one Doberman at a time...always. Well, between their health issues and being highly needy...the fact that I don't consider where I live now to be optimum for a Doberman (not compared to the wonderful place Lyric lived) ...it would not be practical for me, although I still love the breed to pieces. I've come to adore my little Chihuahuas and the ease which goes with such small dogs. I'm into "easy" these days...not too demanding, not terribly high energy etc... so probably a smaller dog or just one which is relatively easy to work with is what I'd be looking for if I get another dog.

When I was younger, a Chihuahua or Poodle would have been the last dog I was interested in. Now I'm enthralled. LOL.

Other breeds that strike my fancy that I am doubtful I'll ever own might be another GSD, although they're one of my favorites...or a Lab. Again, had them both, loved them, but now is not the time. Breeds I've never owned that interest me, but that I doubt I'll ever own might be: Borzois are cool but not really for me when it comes right down to it. I also find Lagotto Romagnolo a really neat little dog, but hard to find a good one and very expensive since they're rather rare. Another dog I think is really cute is a Border Terrier. Oh...I know I've thought of others but can't think right now.

This is a tough one, I really do love all dogs but if I had to choose I would say GSD. I really do love them, but they just aren't for me I have found out. I would say Dobermans too.

I'm not sure there are any more breeds I don't want that I used to want because like I said I love all dogs. I really don't think I'd be opposed to not have one if the dog needed me.. because I do love all dogs and it just depends on the dog for me really. :)

I was pretty sure, as a kid, I wanted a great Dane, an English mastiff, and a FCR. I will realistically never own any of those.

The only two breeds I've ever thought I wanted enough that I was actually contacting breeders and considering dogs were Australian Shepherds and Coolies. After getting to know more Aussies, and knowing one Coolie in person - neither is what would make me truly happy.

I always thought I wanted a German Shepherd. Then I started looking into getting one. Very expensive, hate the angulation, you have to find the right breeder who knows what they are doing, then you hope they will sell you one.

I went through a strong ACD phase and I know now that would never work out. Baed on looks alone, Husky. But again, not a good match for me. The other breeds I've been interested in... Still a possibility :rofl1:

I don't think there is a breed that I wanted in the past that I won't get. I've only REALLY wanted border collies, danes and koolies. All three I would get again depending on the dog. I mean I go through breed wants every now and then but never go as far as actually planning on bringing one into my home or anything.

Irish Wolfhounds. The health issues and short life span . . . I don't want to set myself up for that much heartache, and besides, Filas are my life-breed now :)

Once I thought I never wanted to be without a GSD, but the breed has changed so much, especially from the farm bred GSDs that brought me to love the breed.

Irish setters! They are the only reason I have sighthounds today!
I was a voracious reader as a kid and LOVED Jim Kjelgaard books. I has such a huge want for an Irish setter when I was told I could have my own dog. I think I was around 11 or 12. I wanted one so bad! Finally my mom broke the news that she would not be willing to share a house with one, pick another breed. The only other breed that even remotely caught hy eye was Afghan hounds so we called the Afghan rescue of Canada one day just to find out more about them and 3 weeks later we got a call to pick up our new hound.

Thank goodness it worked out like it did! I can't imagine dealing with setters! They do not suit me at all!

Don't know if this counts, but Beaucerons. They used to be right behind German Shepherds on my list of favorites, but hearing more from those who have actually owned them and worked with them extensively, I'm a little doubtful. It may not be so much the breed as it is the breeders, but I'm realizing that what the breed is ideally is one thing, but what many examples of the breed actually are is an entirely different matter.

I would still like to own a Beauceron, once I have done more research and gained more experience, but that probably will not be for 30+ more years (as I do not see myself owning more than 2 dogs at once). I used to be adamant that they would be the breed after Dog #2. They remain one of my favorite breeds, but now I'm not as inclined to own one so immediately.

Before I had Trent, I wanted a Doberman Pinscher, a Rottweiler, and (get ready for this!) a wolfdog

The wolfdog part should be self explanatory. I wanted one for the same reasons any uneducated kid would want one, but enough of my brain was functioning for me to do a Google search and realize they were too much for a first time owner.

Doberman Pinschers are trickier because I can't quite pinpoint what it is about the breed that's lost my interest. I still find them stunning, I admire Sizzledog, Toller_08, and PatchworkRobot's dogs and can't get enough of them, and I've actually enjoyed all the Doberman Pinschers I've met in person. It's probably one of those cases where it just didn't click, and nothing particularly stood out. That, and the velcro dog aspect and the infamous Doberman Nose Pokes. I like a dog that keeps to himself well, even when I am around. I really, really like my space.

German shepherds. I grew up and learned what it was like to do my own cleaning (and how much they shed) and I also grew up and realized how IMPOSSIBLE it is to rent with a GSD.
Just want to say...this is so so so so very true. I have had a harder rime renting with Judge than any other dog breed. A lot of places accept LoLa but not Judge.

OT rant over.

Collie- My first dog love was rough collies and I never got one as a kid. I just am not a fan now. I don't dislike them but I've never met a collie that made me want a collie. They just don't have the same spark for me the other herders do. It's kind of odd because I LOVE the collie family but am not a huge collie collie fan.

GSD- I really really wanted one so bad since my first dog was half GSD. I thought for sure once I got out on my own... and then I dunno. I just can't picture them with me. The ones we've had in agility have been way slow and then I've had too many issues with the ones I've seen around and especially when I was working in the shelter. I've met a couple GSDs that make me drool but most fall very flat to me.

Ibizan Hound- I used to think they were the prettiest dogs and loved them. But I'm not a sighthound person at all. They don't fit what I want to do with a dog or with my lifestyle. I do still think they're pretty but not as pretty as I used to either. Funny how tastes change.

I've had a few come and go and some I'm not sure about. But those three were definite dead set and are now definite no.

Dalmatian. As a kid I was TOTALLY smitten with Dalmatians, I loved them, and I really wanted one. Of course now I know about their uric acid issues and I no longer want one.
