That doesn't concern me, I feel that's a normal filter for people wanting to adopt pit bulls (any dog, really). It's less about the breed and more about public perception. You don't want someone who is going to take their dog straight to the dog park after adoption, and you want an adopter to know a little bit about dog body language to keep their dog out of trouble. Because pit bulls and their owners literally live every day under a microscope (trust me, there are people waiting for us to fail left and right), it's especially important that responsible folks are the ones to take on the responsibility.
If you go to any breed specific rescue you'll hear similar language, but shelters attract many first time pet owners who have not done any research. That message is for them, not us
