I just wanted to pop in and say that I'm surprised to see so many reusable diapers. I've never known anyone to use them (unless you count my grandparents) and was thinking about using them for my future children. What do you all think of them? Are they easier to use? Harder? Sorry to hijack the thread! I'm just super curious about this!
I like them for multiple reasons.

1) Environmental - in areas like the desert it cuts it close with the extra washing, but IMO is still better environmentally speaking.

2) chemicals - I dont like the idea of the chemicals in the disposables on my children....slight risk probably but it does make the list IMO

3) cost - if you go prefolds and covers they are SOOO much cheaper. If you go all out and buy the highest cost all brand new they are probably close to the same as sposies. I bought the bulk of mine as plain all size diapers and used them on both children.

I will never have the chance to be an aunt because do am an only child lol & all my cousins are years older then me.

You guys would be surprised how many women/moms think that if you aren't married/have kids then you are wasting space on earth & are a horrible person, I guess that's why I am kind of cynical twds the whole idea because I knew from an early age that I would never want a family. I would be one of those terrible parents lol.

I love those pink leg warmers!!! Must get me some of those.

I came in here to post something, only to find the discussion has totally changed lol... but I'll post it anyways since I thought it was good information on due dates:

And we are thinking about using cloth diapers as well for the majority of the time. I still haven't figured everything out but I've started looking into them.

I am in LOVE with my cloth. My husband too. I started when my middles was 2 and right before my baby was born. I think they are easier personally. It takes finding out what works best for your family. We use pockets (stuff them with absorbant pads and then its just like a disposible) for our older two (my 4 year old still wears one at night time) and prefolds for the baby because shes TINY and they are the easiest to size to her. CLoth is actually REALLY popular these days at least where I live. We have 2 local sites JUST on facebook and they each have 100-200 members.

I prefer cloth for the usual reasons but also for one other. There is no diapers going out into the garbage for stray cats or dogs to smell, then dumping over the cans to tear into them leaving a god awful mess to clean up. Plus they are so much cuter. lol Love all the pictures.

Love this thread!!!! I'm 10w4d with my first and finding the experience of other moms is invaluable!

I so badly want to use cloth diapers but my DH is totally not in to the idea. I figure we'll start with disposables and when start to feel more comfortable being parents, then we'll switch. That's my plan anyways...

Anyways, hope this thread goes on and on! I'm loving it so far!

Glad you are enjoying it. The way I like doing it is during the day, at home we use cloth. For at night and when we leave the house we use disposables. That is the system that worked for me. Find a system that works for you.

The experience of other moms I also find invaluable. Just remember to pick and choose what you are comfortable with and what works for you. Advice is just that. Advice. Don't let anyone push what works for them on you if it does not feel right for you. I had a grandma tell me that and it was the best advice I ever got.

Right now I am getting tons of advice from moms who had/have babies with clefts. And the info and experiences they are sharing with me is so much better then the info the doctors have told me. I like all the medical info, don't get me wrong, but the moms give me the day to day living experience info and that is just as important.

Thats what Jeremy originally agreed to but now we havent bought a single disposible since Savannah was born. Weve also gone to cloth wipes as well.

Its sooooo nice to have the extra money. We turn it around and spned it on family stuff. :)

I used sposies once on vacation and on Lilah when she was a newborn because she had a full length cast on and the cloth were a bit too big for it. Man, I had blowouts with all the brands I tried...was so happy to get back to cloth lol

We did have a diaper sprayer hooked the the toilet that was nice but really, it was not hard to plop or swish the poop out.

thats all we do and we have a double shower head (with a handheld head) and for the bad ones we use that in the sink.
