I was cleaning up the mudroom, and left the door open so the wet floor could dry.. and then stupidly left the door that opens up to the inside of the house open, too. Then I got distracted doing who-knows-what, and closed it before any of the cats got out. I went outside to dump the bucket of water in the yard... and there was Tom.

I yelled at him to come in like I usually do (seriously, he's amazing.. when he gets outside all I have to do is ask him to come in and he races me to the door) and he ignored me for a second, and then galloped up to me... and he had a MOUSE in his mouth that was nearly as large as his head! OMG!

So of course, I try to close the outside door so I can steal his prize from him before he brings it in, but he came in and dropped it at my feet and trotted inside.

The biggest surprise? It was still alive. It scurried out, completely unharmed.

Tom got a biiiiig treat for catching it, though. Club crackers and laughing cow cheese (his favorite) with the EVO kibble he usually isn't allowed to have.

Now I'm certain he used to be an indoor-outdoor cat after this. No eleven year old cat who has never been outside on his own goes and kills a mouse within ten minutes - he had to have learned that somewhere. Meh, but anyways I'm pretty happy for him. I shouldn't be worried about parasites, should I? I washed his face and paws off when he came in.

My cat brings all kinds of things... lately a mouse and a chipmunk that kept all the pets busy for a few days (she brings them in alive of course). She eats them sometimes and just leaves pieces too...

Never got sick or anything.

Siam brought us a dead mouse last summer and left it on the door mat, I guess it was a present to us. My mom was in Florida, so I sent her a picture message of Siam's present. :D

Spazz is a killer. She will kill anything she can get her paws on. Rats, mice, bunnies, birds, whatever. Bella is learning too. She goes after big game though. I brought her to the barn with me to visit Cougar (she jumped in the car) and she jumped onto his head while I was riding.

If I let Goober out there would be no birds left to eat from our bird feeder and poop all over the porch railing.... hmmm.... getting rid of the poop on the porch railing DOES sound like a good idea... I'm sure NOLU agrees riiiiggghhhttt? Didn't you accidentally touch all that bird poopy?

Yeah, I just wasn't expecting it from a pampered house-kitty.... LOL! I could only be more surprised if Emma or Chili brought home one. Middie has caught voles before, too.

I wouldn't be worried, Panda used to bri in all sorts of things, lizards, mice, birds and leave them in my room for me to find in the morning. I didn't encourage it but whado you do? he was a cat.

then he started this thing were hewould come home to come in at night, bang on the door. We'd open it and he'd show us the mose he just caught, we'd say noand leave him outside with it, he's bang on the door 20 minutes latr and would've eaten it allecept the ntrails which were laid out perfectly ext to him, you could mak out all the ogans so clearly, it was so weird.

haha ya there's lots of bird poopy. I'm not cleaning it off though... that's Jo's bird feeder and I have my own animals to clean up after LOL... so we'll see if she actually cleans it all up before it cements on there permanently. haha

It actually comes off better after 4 months or so, but the easiest is getting it within the first week. Use a scraper or a power washer.
