Sure I would.
If the dogs had a bad past I absolutely would, just as a sort of new start to them, I don't want their name attached to negative things.

But I'm bad at picking out names so in most cases I probably wouldn't. :p We got Molly from a rescue at 8 months old, her name was already Molly and the only reason we didn't change it was because we couldn't decide on a new name lol.

I would rename the dog if I wasn't pleased with the name. And I think in few days the dog would start knowing his name, they're very smart, so it would be OK. So far I didn't have a dog to re-name (Junior was Junior from the start), but I'd rather work more on the new name then have the dog wear a weird one.

ive renamed almost all the dogs i got, and all were as "adults" except rah, who was 10 months - all had prior names given to them by shelters/rescues, and i changed all but willow - because willow's name fit my scheme and fit her perfectly.

no matter how old, all my dogs have learned to respond to their names within days.

I didn't like Marq's name when I got him, but I couldn't imagine trying to rename him. Lol.
