Would you all think I was crazy if I added a 5th?

I want a long coat fawn or sable with black mask... that's the first "dream puppy." Or... a while with black parti markings... long coated.
Personally I'm coveting one of these:

Someone on my other forum has a 10 week old black and white baby and I want it bad.

you know, I've never really known any that well. My friend Josh had a chi/terrier mix, but none of my other friends have had one. The person who lived below me in Michigan had one and she was super quiet. I see them in the store sometimes but that's about it. My husband has several that come to day care, though, and they see them for grooming all the time, and if he really likes them, they must be pretty well-behaved.
I had never met one that wasn't snarling at everyone before I took a friend and her little girl to Dollywood one weekend. There was a lady there with the three pups she had bred and her bitch -- really well put together little dogs -- and they were all friendly, beautifully mannered little creatures. She was getting them out and socialized before they went to their new homes.

The big problem with chihuahuas is that most people encounter the badly bred ones... the ones from pet stores, BYBs, etc, etc.

Not only are they badly bred, they are also purchased by people who treat them like children... so they are set up for disaster from the get go.

You hardly ever see well bred chihuahuas around here. I actually ran into Tucker's 1/2 brother at the park because he was a perfect looking chi. lol. I asked his owner where he came from, and it turns out they share fathers.

I am really liking black and white and tris in almost any breed. I found this guy and... *drool*

I don't think I've ever met a well bred chi around here. My neighbor has a nice little chi we play with although I think he's froma pet store. We call him Summer's mini me because he is marked just like Summer only he's about half her size. Chis make my papillons look giant.

I like monochromatic dogs... I wanted a black/white border collie at first... but I'm loving the red and white now.

Black and white plus a long coat is just stunning.

I used to really love reds. I still like them a lot (We have four red and white dogs). Tris are my favorite though. <3

I'm really liking Tucker's colors, especially as his adult coat is growing in. He's turned out really well. His coat is especially thick for a blue.

I like Rylie's coloring as well... she's fawn with blue markings. Fawn is one of my favorite chihuahua colors... and I'd be the happiest person ever if I could someday have a fawn with a black mask.

There are just SO many chihuahua colors out there... they come in every single color, so it's really hard to "pick" a color before they are born. When you are buying based on health/temperament/breed standard and not color, it's luck of the draw.

Papillons have the same basic markings but there's lots of options there too. They have to be particolor (which is fine, I love parti dogs). Mia's breeder just so happened to breed a lot of my favorite color (hound) so even though it is a more unusual color I ended up with one since it's so strong in her lines. She never has black and whites though, unfortunately. My next will probably be another tri since I just adore the do everything kind of dogs she's producing.

Mia is the prettiest pap I've ever seen.

See, I'd be afraid of getting one and it wouldn't be nearly as cute. I love the hound markings on Mia. She's just super pretty.

Awww thanks! :D

Toy breeds seem to be either very pretty or just... really really bad. There seems to be less medium ground for them like there is (imo) in bigger dogs. I'm not sure why. A good breeder goes a long ways though.

I completely agree.

I really, really don't like the look of badly bred chihuahuas. Their noses are too long and they just don't look right. They just don't look like chihuahuas... the one distinquishing feature for a chi is the apple domed skull.

A good breeder is so important.

I agree.

I really don't know how some people spend $1000+ for a chi breeder online without even seeing pictures of the parents..
all puppies are cute, all adult chis? not so much IMO

If Romeos sire produces another litter, I hope im in the position to get one of his pups. I luff him!

I think another one would be a great addition! Chis don't take up much space or food lol and they are so cute!!
