Would you all think I was crazy if I added a 5th?

There was a house we looked at and were considering... but the HOA only allowed 2 pets :yikes: and we didn't love the house enough to feel daring. lol.

We are surrounded by dogs in our neighborhood. Neighbors to our left have a lab/pit mix. Neighbors to our right have 3 dogs... and they are friends with the neighbor on their other side, so they ended up joining their yards to form one Super Yard for the dogs to run around in. So there are 5 dogs sharing my fence line daily from one side. lol.

That's actually pretty awesome! I'm glad all the dogs get along and they can do that!

Sure you're crazy. So? You fit right in with the rest of us!

Go ahead and get #5. Chihuahuas are so little that you will hardly notice another. ;) I think you will find, though, that even numbers are easier to deal with than odds, so don't count out the possibility of #6!

Oh, and sure, go with a pap if you'd like. They can't all be like Mia...

You're one of the few dog owners I would encourage to get another dog! Go for it. And post LOTS of photos. I know I won't be getting another dog till Bandit is 8ish and it certainly won't be a pup. I need to live through someone!

Plus I love Chis. They're my guilty pleasure.

pfffft - they're small! I used to pet-sit for a chi breeder who had like 13 or something. No biggie. lol

OH - and we have five (although admittedly not always in the same house...) and ours aren't even small... Autumn comes in as the tiniest at just about 23lbs :)

I wouldn't think you are crazy. You are great with the dogs you have and you have a great set up.

Go for it!!

We have a two dog limit here... I do believe you can apply for a permit for a third, but I have no idea of the process. After that you have to have a kennel licence. When I actually entertain having more than two/three dogs, I'll consider moving somewhere a little more dog friendly.

I sure would hate to own my home and be told I could only have 2 dogs. That would just suck

Yes, you should definitely add another.

What would the 'dream' puppy look like?

I think if I got another chi, I would want a long-coat, chocolate and white (heavy white). What I would want and what I would get though, rofl.

Thanks, everyone, for the reassurance. lol.

What I actually want and what I will actually get are two different stories. lol.

I want a long coat fawn or sable with black mask... that's the first "dream puppy." Or... a while with black parti markings... long coated.

That's what I wanted before we got Tucker... who is a blue tricolor. Complete opposite of what I wanted color wise... but I'm really loving the blue now.

I'm in contact with a breeder who has a little girl who is NOTHING like I want. lol. But the parents are shown and health tested, and this puppy will be amazing so we'll see. Hmmm... ;)

I'm still thinking about waiting on my breeder's future litter which should probably produce almost exactly what I want.

My husband really wants a black and white long coated Chihuahua. He's getting a Crestie instead, but he will always want one of those

If Ian were to pick our next dog, I think he'd probably choose a French Bulldog or a Boston Terrier.

I think Frenchies are gorgeous... but I'm not sure I agree with how they're bred. And it would be such a random addition to our pack. I'm not sure how one would fit in.

He does love the chihuahuas, though.

Well i can just speak from the size difference, but Pugs and Chihuahuas get along famously. Izzie goes to all Chihuahua parties and despite the Chis tending to be "breedist" they love her. The size difference makes no issue at all. Frenchies i can only assume will be very similar to pugs in this aspect.

But tell him he should get a Pug not a Frenchie or a BT ;)

Awww! I love elderly dogs. I really hope that mine make it to that age.

Do you remember the little LC chi on here named Jesse James? He was so cute... and lived to be 17 I think.

I already have 5 so no, I think it's a perfectly logical thing:p

I think as long as the pets are well cared for, it shouldn't matter:)

No, I don't remember. Aside from the grey on him and the fact that he's not as fast anymore, you'd never guess he was that age

I can't imagine any of my chis ever getting old. Chloe is 4 1/2 and has SO much energy. I doubt she'll ever slow down. We always joke that she'll be blind and deaf and still running and jumping everywhere.

Chis are such good little dogs... I can never say enough good things about them.

you know, I've never really known any that well. My friend Josh had a chi/terrier mix, but none of my other friends have had one. The person who lived below me in Michigan had one and she was super quiet. I see them in the store sometimes but that's about it. My husband has several that come to day care, though, and they see them for grooming all the time, and if he really likes them, they must be pretty well-behaved.
