Would you all think I was crazy if I added a 5th?

When we just had the shelties and Beau we were always asked if the shelties were Beau's parents. :rofl1:

I've found once you get past three it really doesn't make much of a difference. What's ONE more <10 lb dog? ;)
:rofl1:

You are all BAD influences here.

I do agree, though. I can't see 5 being much different than 4 :rofl1:

lol I think I could handle 4 but am happy with 3 (for me, the other dogs aren't 'my' responsibility. I feed them etc, but don't work with them etc)

I will say Mia did throw a big wrench in things a while. But she's also Mia.

Chi's are just chips without the "p." You can't stop eating them. You'll still be way under your weight limit. And you don't really have to train Chi's...not much anyhow. :p They're just naturals at being the perfect companions.

It sounds like you have the resources, great place and everything you need to give a great life to another Chi. Okay, so count me in with the "bad influence" crowd.:rofl1:

Nah, not crazy because you can afford it, own your own home, and have the time. Plus little dogs don't count as as many dogs :D. The only thing you really need to consider is how it will work with that many dogs once you start having children...will you have the same time then? Will you be staying home still?

That's true... I guess I am pretty crazy all ready. Haha.

We already have a pet sitter who actually likes our dogs and thinks they're well behaved, so we don't have to worry about managing a 5th when we go on vacations, etc.

A 5th shouldn't make much of a difference once we have children, I wouldn't think. The jump from 4 to 5 doesn't seem too huge.

Thanks for the opinions/thoughts, everyone. We definitely have the time/space/money to add a 5th addition. I even got the okay from hubby to do it... :yikes:

I, of course, think you should get a fifth, despite the fact that the idea of getting a second still scares me a bit. ;)

Though, something else to think about -- with 5 be your absolute maximum? If so, do you maybe want to wait a couple of years until your boys are more grown? I kind of like the idea of spreading dogs out a bit (not that I would necessarily follow this myself if/when a "want" comes along, but in the abstract I think this is a good idea, especially as it I think it may be pretty hard to have several elderly dogs).

does your town have a limit on the number of dogs allowed? I know our town has a four dog limit. Just something to think about.
Beyond that... all I have to say is, what color are you thinking about? :D

I don't see why you would be crazy for adding a fifth dog. You handle the ones that you have now very well. I also have to agree with Laur; once you get past three it's not as big of a deal anymore.

Not to mention, we can all live vicariously through you! :D

That's a good point. The county limit here is actually 3. Beyond that, you need a kennel license.

There's no town limit here on numbers of dogs, nor is there a limit in our homeowners' association. We checked into all of this when we moved here.

Chihuahuas are a really long lived breed... 12-20 years on average. So I'm really hoping that they don't all age at the same time... if that makes any sense. We already have 4, so if they all age at the same rate and have horrible health issues at the same time then we're already in that boat. Adding one more shouldn't change that too much.

Rylie is turning 5 in September and Chloe is turning 5 in February. They're both inseparable.

Tucker turned 1 in January, and Rory turned one in March.

Realistically, it will probably be a little bit until I get a 5th. I may decide to wait until my breeder's next litter, which gives me a good chance of getting what I want.
