Ok, first I was excited about adopting a new guinea pig for Penny and now I am sort of worried. Everytime we have gotten a caged animal they have been mean and didn't want anything to do with us (besides Penny that is). I really want to get her a friend, and we are going to a rescue organization this saturday to look at one little girl in particular. Mark's worried about this guinea pig being mean and then turning our other guinea pig mean as well. I mean even if this pig is scared and nervous plenty of out of cage time should get her used to us right? I take my one pig out for an hour of lap time and she gets 2 hours of floor time a day so this new pig will get the same. I guess I'm just having last minute jitters because we're going to see them tomorrow.

Rescue animals often come with baggage. But they can be very sweet, even if they are afraid (they aren't mean for the heck of it) with plenty of love and attention, they will come around :)

She won't turn your piggy "mean", even if you do get one that is fearful. But rescue animals often do come to you sweet also =) Good luck with your new piggy.

thanks! The woman that is fostering her said that she is very shy and is scared at first but warms up quickly to people once you get her out and on your lap. So I'm assuming she's one of those pigs that are hard to get out of their cage but then settle down once on your lap (which is exactly how ours is). There are plenty of other pigs there though that we can look at so if for some reason we didn't like Cuddles than we could always look at the others. I know I'm not under any obligation to adopt if I don't find the right piggy either.
