That totem pole is going to be a work of genius when it's all put together!

Butch is coming along magnificently!

I wish i could photograph him and you could see it as it really is. It is so distorted i hardly recognize him and it upsets me. THe owls look simple but they are not. To get a good even rock, one where they will rock for a long time with only a touch is my goal. THey are burnished where there is no glaze for smoothness. I make them solid then hollow them out which is why i have had two crack on me. ONe was my fault, i run a small coil over the sealed edge and smooth it down, i missed one place. The other and this was my best one too was the fault of our kiln tech. I would not have put it on the shelf to dry if i knew he was going to put it right in. It was far too wet and he dinged the bottom of it on something else which is why i know he put it in so wet. THey are not suppose to do that. I would like to have a dozen or so by fall. But at this rate, i am doing good to have two.

I dont' know if the totem pole is ever going to happen. I feel so ill right now it is hard to work.
