My 5 month old puppy absolutely loves bringing twigs from the yard and chewing them for hours... I'm a bit worried that they will hurt his stomach and intestines though.

Should I be worried?

Sounds like he's teething. Maybe you should give him some twig alternatives. Twigs dont' really worry me that much. I let my dogs chew on them but that doesn't mean it's right!

If he's teethign you could try giving him a frozen carrot or something to chew on

Yes he is teething, and he has a dozen of toys to chew on too.. He just always loves getting what he's not supposed to (paper is a favorite...).

Gus likes a good twig to chew!! But be careful if they are running with them because if they get caught in the ground or anything they can puncture the roof of their mouths!

Our Rufus once got terrible bad breath once.....found a twig ( 1/4 " x 3'' ) had wedged between his last 2 molars on roof of his mouth. I let the chew but check their mouths.
