I thought this was an excellent forum to discuss differences of opinion? Not sure why it was locked down. I, for one, am against it, but agree that different cultures have different customs. As cows in India are sacred yet we don't think twice about eating steak here in the U.S. Or the U.S.'s selling of horses to Europe for their meat. I'll never forget a heartwrenching special on TV I saw about Koreans and their dogs. It showed dogs packed into little tiny cages being sold at market. Then it showed a family playing with their dog one minute, then cracking it in the head to kill it for dinner the next minute. It was just awful to know this happens in other cultures. :(

We could go on and on... i.e. the skinning of dogs in China for their fur

I am not against Koreans because some of them eat dog meat. I agree that hindu people must think we are bad for eating cows. Each culture is different than one another, and it's important that each one is respected.

Oh, I saw that. But I still don't get it. That's ok. To each is own. I don't condone it, but every culture is different. I mean, we could go on and on. Even in this country, like PETA trying to protect the turkeys at Thanksgiving in this country, etc. etc.

Elin that special was innacurate. Those dogs that are eaten are bred to be eaten and are fed alot so they make a good meal. They arent family dogs that people play with then eat even though that is what most people think.

But this family let the camera follow them around for a day. It wasn't a special on "eating dogs". It was like "A Day in the Life". Why would they portray that then?

You know, I heard some people said that dog meat taste really good. They eat dogs some parts around in Asia. So I look at them and say how can you eat a dog. Then they will describe how it's sold. THey hang the dog on a hook dead and you pick. It's kinda sick. I remember my grandma telling me that back in the days people used to eat dogs. It 's just sick. OF course non of my family ate dogs. I went to a pet store with my friend wanted to get a cat. So my friend asked the person what we would need to buy to have this cat as a pet. This sales person said to us really mean that the cat was sold. Then I complain to the manager then she sold us the cat and she told us because the other sales person thought that we were going to kill and eat the cat.

I thought the original thread in the first place was somewhat pointless. I don't care how many people sign that petition, no ones gonna change the Korean culture. Its the same way with Americans, no matter how many Hindu's sign a petition to stop Americans from eating cows, its not gonna stop us.

Well said, Shred.

Along those same lines, though, we could issue petitions around the globe:

Dear Germany,

Knock it off with the rabbits. Uber gross!

Signed,

P. Cottontail

Dear Mexico,

Barbequed Goat? Aye carumba!

Signed,

Bill E.

Dear Greece,

I've never seen lamb look like those big hunks of meat in the Gyro shops? 'sup with that?

Signed,

Mary Little

That's right, and how people are going to feal if in india they want to sig a petition for us to stop eating cow meat?
the only thing we can hope is that don't kill the dogs in a cuel way.

And by the way the xoloitzcuintle was "cattle" before, if someone wants to know more about them read here http://www.chazhound.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4778

I think that what we should be signing a petition for is that all animals be treated humanely before and during their deaths.

I think it's just cruel to kill any animal just for food. I went out with my bf by the beach and they had this video on how they kill cows, chicken, and pig. After that video my boyfriend became vegetarian for a month. His finally eating a little chicken but he tries to eat vege.
