I have a couple of questions for all of you....

1. Why did you pick the dog you have?

2. What do you like most about your dog?

3. What do you like least about your dog?

While reading some other posts these questions pop into my mind and I am curious what you guys might think about this.

My answers.

I have to Amstaffs and I originally picked them because they are smaller than my last dogs (Rotties) and with that I hope they live longer. They have a similar build and look. I also rescued my first Amstaff, I guess she needed me.

What I like most about my dogs is there mellowness and their comedic personality....nothing rattles them, nothing is taken serious. I didn't want a guard (which my Rotties were very active ones) I just wanted a companion.

What I like least about my dogs is how they are viewed by strangers, putting up with the prejudice is tough sometimes and might drive me away someday (hopefully I have 6-7 years before I have to make that call).

I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and a mini Doxie. I've always loved Corgi's and had wanted one for a long time. I would say the thing I like least is her barking. She's very verbal. The thing I like most is her big smile when she looks at me. She has such a cute and happy face. My Doxie, I wasn't planning on getting. One of my friends at work had one puppy left and talked me into taking him. I REALLY didn't want to at all, but now am so happy that I did. I had never had a Doxie before. The thing I like least about him is his licking....he LOVES to lick and lick and give lot's of kisses. The thing I like the most is his even temper and sweet disposition. I also love how soft he is. :D

I know what you mean about people prejudice about certain breeds of dogs. It isn't fair. They don't deserve it at all.

1. Why did you pick the dog you have? Colby we picked because we liked her temperment and looks, May we picked because she's an absolute doll (and angel), and Tippy really picked us. She grabbed our hearts and never let go.

2. What do you like most about your dog? I really like their temperments and looks. I think they are all well-behaved, good-looking puppies.

3. What do you like least about your dog? Tippy has some aggression issues which we have been dealing with. She's getting a ton better, but we've still got a ways to go. At times, they can be stubborn beasties.

1. Why did you pick the dog you have?

A) Neva my APBT I picked because my friend had one and I loved the look and the personality, courage, tenacity, loyalty, and a love of people the breed posseses.
B) Gunnar my GSD I picked because I wanted a versatile family dog that would also help to protect my family and our property, image alone suffices with a GSD to ward off strangers.

2. What do you like most about your dog?

A) I love how sweet Neva is to us, I love how she is so lady like and dainty about things. I love that even though she is six years old she still has the spring in her step of a puppy, her nickname is Prancer.
B) I like how hard Gunnar tries to do the right thing. He also has a great personality, I love his curiosity for everything and the way he tilts his head to figure something out. This darn list could go on and on LOL!

3. What do you like least about your dog?

A) Neva was abused before we got her and is wary of strangers, this makes it hard to take her places especially since she is a pit. I wish that she would learn to trust people again but even through extensive socialization attempts she still takes a while to warm up to people. She has never bitten anyone, she will bark and then give them kisses, she is so confused :( .
B) Gunnar drinks like a slob! He gets water everywhere, granted he's a pup and he might grow out of it (keeping fingers crossed).

We picked Princess because she was in need of a good home. I like so much about her. I love the way she loves the world. In her eyes every dog, cat, and human is deserving of love.
Princess needed a playmate, and I wanted a roughhaired chow, cinnamon or cream, didnt matter. This is where Gracie comes in.
What I love about Gracie is EVERYTHING. She is still forming her personality.
What I dont like about them: Nothing about them I dont like. Princess has her personality, she doesnt always do things by the book. It's other people that I have the problem with. I hate it when I hear someone put down the dogs I have choosen to love and give homes to because it's "not a good breed", "there mean". I hate that some people wont go near Gracie because of the type of puppy she is, not even giving her a chance to prove herself to them. If she shy's away, its because she's a chow, if she gets to excited and playful and does the puppy nipping its because she's a chow, its not because she's a teething puppy that has to learn like all puppys what is acceptable. They assume the worse with her. She is judged before anyone ever gives her a chance.
I'm with you on the dislikes Amstaffer!

And just a little note of frustration, I just took my girls out to the field, to hot to keep them out there long so we cut it short. Walking back to a house a neighbor guy from acrossed the street asked me about my dogs. Wanted to know what kind of puppy I have. I told him and he got this look on his face and said "oh my.... hmm......I see". Could be the psychologist in him coming out. Anyway,
Thats what I hate.

I think my dogs picked me. They just perked up and had great eye contact with me. I wasn't even expecting on getting another dog after Sadie, and I had to do some creative convincing with Tony to get and keep Nora.

I have no complaints about Sadie. She's basically perfect, lol. Nora, well Nora is Nora and will bark at every little sound she hears. Its chaos in the summer when the kids are running IN and OUT of the door.

I love how Sadie and nora will cuddle and give me kisses. Nora is more like a cat and will give you affection when SHE feels like it, well, maybe not that bad, but when she does, she is so sweet. Sadie, on the other hand, is affectionate and a best friend no matter what.

I didnt pick Brownie-found her on the road(was going to find her a great home)But I fell madly in love with her after the first night...she really stole my heart...I love Brownies playfulness, and her cute little doggy face...Most of all I love going for walks and learning with her...Sometimes Brownie can be a handful...Sometimes her kisses are a little rough but were working on that...And when she accidently gets out it takes awhile to convince her to come home...Gotten alot of great advice here on the forums and after only 4 days of (good recall excercises)she is doing much better..:)

I couldnt let this pup go to the pound at 5/6 weeks old.

He has a very expresive face and ears, and he is a really happy dog. Even when he destroys something  .

Just when I thought he was getting past the destruction stage he tore into my matress today, I dont want to get into all of what he has destroyed right now.

We've had our issues but Im glad I got him because who knows what familly would have addopted this little destructive ball of fur from the pound and how fast he would have wound up back there. Im glad I crammed as much as possible before picking him up cause otherwise Ild have beaten him silly by now, he is a destructive *******, Im glad he hasnt destoyed anything nice.

Why did you pick the dog you have?
Having decided to have a dog, I wanted to home a rescue, and found a lovely cross of two breeds I'm very fond of in a local shelter. Bonnie was a 'long term resident' (no-one really understood why, other than she could get a little over-excited) and became the shelter mascot having spent a year there waiting for a home.

What do you like most about your dog?
Loyalty, her really trying to understand and please. Seeing her run free and being healthy and happy.

What do you like least about your dog?
Something she can't help - dropping hair everywhere, especially in the heat :D

When I say : "Because his breed makes The best guard dogs in the world." I mean my breed. I was not refering to any one elses dog if you didnt notice

Let me elaborate. Im saying that Caucasian Ovcharkas arre the best guard dogs in the world. Is that clear enough?

1. Why did you pick the dog you have?
I didn't pick him, he picked me. He was a stray in the shelter and was due to be euthanized. Taken off the adoption floor due to stress. I took him out and was going to place him through rescue (he's a full-blooded, beautiful yellow lab). I fell madly in love with him and kept him.

2. What do you like most about your dog?
He's beautiful and full of personality. And very loving and in-tune with me.

3. What do you like least about your dog?
He can be quite hyper when he wants to be! And mouthy! But I still love it.

I had a neighbor stop by to show me her new puppy. She mentioned that they would be going to the shelter if homes were not found soon, then asked me if I wanted one...off we went...and that's how I got Addie. She is a husky mix. I love the softness of her, the sweetness of her...altho she is a bit aloof, not a cuddler. What I don't like is that she never barks at people...only animals. She loves to dig, and has a strong prey drive and such energy that I have to really keep an eye on her or she'd be off in the woods in a second. She sheds TONS...lol...so you have to enjoy brushing.

I got Hammie because I've always loved GSDs. I went to see his parents and found them to be everything I could dream of, intelliegent, gorgeous, healthy...I just fell in love. I visited the puppies and in no time at all, it was Hammie that would run to me when the other 7 kept playing. I love that he is so protective, that he barks at people and looks intimidating..so he is my superior watchdog. I love how playful he is (he adores Addie!) how expressive, how intelligent.....but mostly how much he loves to be cuddled. He'll just watch me so lovingly...then sigh so contentedly. We have an amazing bond. I do adore him. What I don't especially like is that he isn't socialized...which is MY fault, not his. We don't see anyone and I didn't realize how important it was. It was harsh winter when I brought him home, so we didn't get out. It's something I try to work on now, but isn't really an issue in my world. I am just extremely careful when someone does come around.
