This is what I told one of our state legislatures. If your going to ban a dog breed you should just ban all dogs from that area cuz they are all going to act the same way depending on how they where raised. and he just hung up the phone. I agree with you spudy NO dog breeds should be banned at all.

Such and optimistic view of dog world, but soo wrong :)

Well mostly right, but few things you are not counting.

I can assure you, there are breeds outthere that no matter how good you raise them, no matter how socialized they are. If you move in their direction with wrong body posture, make loud noise, or even raise your hand to fast, they will attack. For such dogs, biting, attacking and fighting is instinctual and not learned.

Then again most of these dogs should require a lisence and a person of appropriate mental and physical capability to handel them. Until US has such laws...

Oh and last thing:

Dog ban = Bad
Dog Handler Lisence = Good.

Actually, Dmitry, in this part of the world that isn't an optimistic view - or it wasn't until just recently, and there are legions of us who will fight tooth and toenail to stop those who would impose such things on us.

Dogs don't bite without reason, and if you will take the time to investigate you will find there is a human behind the reason.

My dogs understand the difference between normal behavior and threatening behavior and are under control when out in public - because I have worked with them and made sure they were exposed to social situations and normal behavior. On their own land it is a different story and they are entitled to keep strangers at bay.

All this banning garbage is simply one more symptom of reprehensible and cowardly behavior on the part of those who won't take responsibility for their own actions.

I was saying that the owner is not always the reason.

A person who gets attacked often causes the reason.

"And we do the same thing to people from different races and ethnic backgrounds too; what does that say for our "civilization? . . . Truthfully, the hatred and bigotry against dogs bothers me more because they can't defend themselves."
George Eliot (1819 - 1880), 'Mr. Gilfil's Love Story,' Scenes of Clerical Life, 1857

LOL! I looked at the title and I thought this was going to be about banding tails as a method for docking, which is a perfectly fine way to dock tails. LOL.

Yeah.....banning breeds is government control in the extreme. They just have to stick their noses into something they know nothing about. It's like a person of a certain ethnic background commits a crime and they put all people of that race in jail. It's the most stupid display of ignorance I can think of right now.
