I've noticed sooooo many threads about rude strangers approaching Chazzer about their dogs' weight. I know canine (and human) obesity is reaching horrible heights, but is there something in the water?

I just had someone tell me that Ronin looked emaciated. He was really rude about it too, like how dare I have a dog that doesn't have a badonkadonk butt and a spare tire???

So let's see 'em, Chazzers... lost your pics of your "skinny", "emaciated", "unhealthily thin" dogs!

Here's mine...

Oh wait - you mean not all Corgis look like Twinkies?

Heck, even middle aged old ladies can look pretty good...

Maybe it's just that in the past we have always owned dogs that had more "fat" to them... but I just cant get over it.

Hopefully, tomorrow, Sizzle can easy my mind a bit :)

Joey is actually getting a little chubby, but he was at an awesome weight in September when I took him to the vet. I had a lot of people asking me if he was still so skinny from his surgery earlier in the summer. I just told them that the vet said he was at a perfect weight. They didn't really know what to say to that.

This reminded me of a funny story. This summer I was back in my hometown living with my parents. My mom does daycare and all the little kids LOVE Joey. Well, one little boy was petting Joey and he said "Boy Joey, you have a REALLY HUGE tummy!", but he was rubbing Joey's ribcage. I don't think a diet is going to help with that, lol!

Even with all of her fur, people are always telling me Dance is too skinny:

^ I don't think she looks at all thin, especially with her thick coat. You can easily feel her ribs and she visibly has a waist. The picture actually makes her looks a little over-weight I think, but she isn't.

well, in my eyes, Maya IS skinny...

I know you keep saying that, and it's hard to tell from pictures, but I think she looks great for her age and build. :)

Maya IS svelte - but dobes aren't supposed to be twinkies. Her weight situation is similar to Ronin's... they're at "sport weight" as some have called it. No superfluous fat anywhere on their bodies - they are either muscle or bone, nothing in between.

It's a healthy situation for a dog to be inn, IMO. I like my dogs lean and mean... ;)

I cannot go by without complimenting on the psysical condition of the dogs in this thread so far - what a MAGNIFICENT collection of dogs, in peak condition!

Virgo's photo took my breath away, even though she is at rest you can still see how muscular and fit she is... wowza!

Macs our little muscle machine, she's bit out of shape because she was in heat recently so had 3 weeks of no walks.
Buster's still not as fit as I want him, my fault, lack of work. I can feel his ribs, but not heaps. He does seem in pretty good condition though

I think it's sad how many people do not know what a dogs weight should look like.

Bandit's body shot. No one has ever said anything about him being to thin. He gets complimented on his trimness. But his brother....

You can really see Spanky's slimness in this picture. I cannot get him to gain weight but seeing a lot of other chaz dogs he doesn't look that thin. Not to mention he has a nice shiny coat and my vet said he is in terrific shape. So eh. Screw others opinions. My dogs are healthy.

I got one of Buster, I do obsess over his weight a bit. He lost a kilo fter winter, which I expected as he got a bit more solid, but stayed his usual weight. Hmm, what do you think?

And heres Harry, he's most out of shape out of our lot but OMG is it difficult to get the weight off him.
