..What Dog Breed is good for Me?

My dad and mom Decided that we should get a dog..but we dont which one..I live in an apartment. its kinda small...but roomy and not too hot cause we have fans every where..and well the apartment complex doesnt allow dogs So we`re gonna sneak one in...a lot of people have done it..I see dogs in the morning with their owner..and there not visiting...But i dont wanna get in trouble with the managment..so i need a dog that can live apartments....Isnt Really loud..and can only be heard inside..(EX Like the dog barks but the people outside or in other apartments cant hear him/her)..ALso I need a dog that can be kinda playful..that can play with me..or just sit on my lap..for a while but then later be active? if there is such a dog like that....I dont really want the dog to be big..Cause My mom had bad expieriences with Large Dogs..When i was young.. so i guess a toy dog would be good? but what kind..I know they have the pekingese!!..that my sister has..and My sisters dog doesnt Bark At All!..only when Other Dogs bark..Or When Like a Person Fastley moves there hands towards him..But thats it...He barley barks..he`s active..but i`m not so sure that breed can be suited for an apartment...I`ve heard Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs are good for apartments..And Thats the kinda dog i want but..i heard that dog can bark very loud..? What kinda dog breed would be best for me?Please help ..Thanks!

I don't think it is the right time for you to be getting a dog. I know this isn't the answer you want, but it's not a good situation for the dog to come into. If you get caught with the dog (and most likley you probably will eventually) then it has to go back to a shelter (Not sure any good breeder would adopt a pet to you) and most shelters ask the landlords before adopting out any dogs.

I would do alot of research, and get your dog to research as well, because in the end, its your parents that make the ultimate decisions I'm sure...

I would also be weary about the fact that you can't have dogs where you live...you should find out more about that...I know here in Ontario, the law is that no rental unit superintendent can deny you the right to own a dog...you can actually sue him/her for doing that around here....I don't know how it works for private condominiums or other housing units...you will have to find out your rights as an owner/tenant and what applies to you and your superintendent...

Do lots of research and make sure you are making the right decision about dog ownership, and which breed is best for you...

please do not try to bring a dog into an apartment where they're not allowed. when you get caught and your options are get rid of the dog or move out, what's going to happen?

Don't sneak a dog in. Just don't do it. If you want a dog that badly, move out of that apartment or convince your landlord to allow one.

You WILL get caught and you will have to get rid of the dog, and that just isn't fair to the dog.

Not to mention that very few shelters/rescues or breeders would adopt a dog to you when you are not allowed to have one

Please do not get a dog if your landlord does not allow it. Trust me they will find out about it. In my first apartment in college my best friend got two cats, which were allowed, but she never paid the pet deposit. The landlord found out about them and luckily just made us pay the pet deposit that day. If it's that hard to even hide cats, imagine how hard it would be to hide a dog that needs to be walked etc. Good breeders and shelters will check with your landlord before letting you adopt a dog. Maybe your parents will be willing to move when your lease is up. Then you can look for a place that allows dogs.

Try to volunteer at the humane society and get you "Dog" fix there. They need dog walkers and socializers to play and love the dogs. You can get a feel for lots of different breeds and breed mixes. When your living enviroment changes then you'll know what you want.

When you adopt you must be certain that you can give a FOREVER home. It is a lifelong (15ish years) commitment.

Why would you want to get a dog if you know there is a good possibility that the landlord could find out about him/her? Like someone else said, what are you going to do if they find out...get rid of the dog or move? Also, as someone else mentioned, a good breeder won't let you have a dog if you aren't allowed to have one where you live...neither will most shelters.
