Its a sheltie. Its a bi-blue with way too much white. Possibly the result of someone who had two white-factored dogs, or even possibly the result of a merle x merle breeding.

Everything about her instantly screams sheltie to me, and I travel to dog shows with a sheltie breeder/enthusiast. This little girl is just out of a really bad breeder or a throwback. It happens a lot in shelties. :)

ETA link and correct spelling
That link has some good CHW pics, thanks! I had shelties forever but she still doesn't look completely sheltie to me. If she is, it's way out of standard. My first two were very badly bred but they looked very different than her. Of course Trey was Mr Sheltie poster child.

haha oh, shelties. They don't seem to breed very true to standard do they? The friend I travel with has two AKC pointed dogs that are both nice, but very different from each other. They have the same parents, but you would never guess. One is heavily marked with white on his face and collar, has a long, lean head etc, the other is short and cobby all over, including her head and very little white. The real kicker is these dogs are a repeat breeding, the first litter of their parents produced a tiny 11 incher that is so out of standard its unreal. Bad bite, movement the whole nine yards. She's sweet though. The reason she chose to repeat the breeding is because the other puppy in the first litter DID turn out nice, but was a male where the breeder wanted to keep a female.

My bet is that they told her purebred sheltie.
I believe this should be acknowledged... clever cookie :)

I didn't read your blurb and I thought "collie"... I always thought of shelties as having a different head shape, like more of a stop?

At any rate. When I see that dog I don't think "sheltie" lol I think "herding mutt."

The second dog posted est belle.

In this picture she reminds me of a sighthound. I can easily imagine her with whippet somewhere in there. I have to say I agree with the sheltie/whippet idea. The rose ears, long legs, slim/slight build, the delicate face and muzzzle. . .I could be way off the mark but in any case, she's gorgeous. :D
