Someone on another board has this dog and gave me permission to ask over here. They're as curious as I am about what you guys think. Anyways, she got this dog from someone who could no longer keep it. Supposedly the dog is purebred, but I don't see it and neither does she. I won't tell you the breed she's supposed to be just yet. The dog is approximately 9 months old and only weighs 13 lbs.

1st day at the new home:

Doesn't really look like a purebred anything to me... though I did see a similar looking dog at the park the other day whose owner claimed it was a Sheltie. Looks like she could be a Sheltie/Border Collie mix to me maybe, or perhaps Whippet with either one of those breeds. She looks a little sighthound-y in one of the pictures.

Dilute BC or Aussie is my best guess. Definitely something in the herding family as far as shape goes. No idea but a very pretty dog nonetheless.

I would say a Border Collie/Sheltie cross, or a Whippet/Sheltie cross.

My vote is sheltie/ BC.

I dont know if its the pics or what be she looks heavier than 13 pounds. Lily is over 16 now. I probably shouldn't be comparing dogs to babies though. lol.

Yeah in most pics she looks like a big dog. There was one I didn't post that has a border collie butt in the background then you can tell she's actually really tiny.

My instinct was bc/sheltie at first. But the owner has 3 bcs as well and swears she nothing like a border collie in behavior. Then I thought maybe sheltie/whippet but I'd think her face would be more narrow if that was the case.

She was sold as a purebred sheltie to the original owner. I just don't see that. Whatever she is, she's my kind of dog.

What if there was even a little Collie thrown in? That was my first thought before I saw how much she weighed.

Thinking about it more, I don't see much/if any Border Collie.

I think what got me thinking border collie is that last picture looks so much like Shiner.

She reminds me of a cross between Shiner and Sita in a way.

What board is this dog from?

Mmk Laur, I'm stealing the doggy in your last post! If it is a shelty, the little one is seriously lacking in coat-age. I still love the color
I don't think Shiner's mom would let you take him, lol.

For comparison here's pure shelties at near that age. One well bred and one not so much lol.

And a touch younger (I think about 5 months)

Where is Beanie, lol? I don't know if shelties can be patterned like that. It seems too patched to be a CHW.

Its a sheltie. Its a bi-blue with way too much white. Possibly the result of someone who had two white-factored dogs, or even possibly the result of a merle x merle breeding.

Everything about her instantly screams sheltie to me, and I travel to dog shows with a sheltie breeder/enthusiast. This little girl is just out of a really bad breeder or a throwback. It happens a lot in shelties. :)
