Never had a problem and today I got home and when I walked in it smelled really musty almost like cat urine. I went and checked Yoshi *she is in a crate while I'm gone* and no accidents and she nor the pillow in there smell like it.

I can't smell it upstairs just downstairs *according to my dad they are separate a/c units* The air filters were just changed it isn't urine and I only smell it coming from the floor vents. Has anyone ever dealt with this? How did you get rid of the smell.

It's not horrible you don't notice it after being here a minute and I'm allergic to almost everything and I don't even have a beginning of a headache and I've been here all night. Just want to get it taken care of before it's is much of an issue. I'm going to just try to air out the downstairs this weekend if it doesn't rain.

Sometimes in my office building, when we switch from A/C to heat or the other way around, there is an unpleasant smell, like spoiled milk. Its the stale equipment and it goes away in a day or so. Not everyone can smell it. Do you think this is the same thing? Did you use the A/C for the first time since winter?

Ok I actually just checked the A/C wasn't on it was just the fan. The fan is always on auto so it has kicked on everyday at some point during the winter. I didn't smell it this morning but I guess an hour later when my brother left he said he kind of smelled it. Now it's harder to smell *I left and came back* but if you stand by a vent with just the fan going you can still smell it pretty strong.

Have you had a recent heavy rainfall? Maybe you have some moisture coming into your basement.

Has it been a long time since you got your ductwork cleaned? It might be a good opportunity to do so.

It's not so bad today. I kinda smelled it when I got home but it's not as overpowering walking into the house today. Hope it is gone tomorrow.

@Locke I actually live in an area where most people don't have a basement but I did check our storm shelter but it's completely dry *and in the house*

@Rbark I tried looking into having a HVAC person coming out last night but whenever I searched I just found a ton of info saying that the HVAC companies aren't regulated and I haven't been able to find anyone around here that has used one to get any sort of a referral.
