b of course, an then after they are brought in GET THEM PROPER CARE. HOW IS THAT SO ****ING HARD. She doesnt even have to do ANYTHING if she gives them to a rescue EXCEPT maybe help get them there. No freaking responsibility for her but shes to **** ignorant or lazy not sure which to ****ing do it.
So you're way is the right way and that's that then?

So my dog should have been taken to a rescue? I shouldn't have been prepared to do all that myself out my own pocket? I shouldn't have got her knowing FULL well she needed worming/fleaing/vaccinating?

What difference does it make - either the rescue does it, or their new homes do. It's not IDEAL like oooh aren't I perfect and totally PC, my crap smells of fresh baked dog biscuits.

But they aint gonna die or be seriously harmed.

She could have just left them in the snow to die. Maybe everyone would be happier then???

All she has to do is tell the new owners EXACTLY the circumstances of these puppies and the new owners can go to their vet, get deworming and vaccination, and off you go.

How are they unsuspecting if she tells them their background?

You are implying she will hand them over and state nothing about their background?

If they are sick, they will be sick together, or seperately in their new homes.

I imagine it will be more effective to have 6 new mums and dads each paying for a sick pup individually than one person/rescue paying for 6 pups alone.
As I said before, dizzy.... exactly!

Is every adoptee prepared to deal with the heartbreak and expense of parvo or distemper? Is every adoptee prepared to deal with puppies who haven't learned bite inhibition, haven't learned dog-dog communication skills? Is every adoptee prepared to spay and neuter or take other measures to prevent these puppies from producing more puppies?

They're not dead. They're not GOING to die.
You can't be sure that they're not going to die. No one can be sure of that right now. That's one of the reasons for not adopting them out yet. To wait for diseases to become symptomatic if there are any.

It's one thing for someone to pawn off their own puppies regardless of health and socialization. That's bad.

But it's far worse for someone who calls themselves a rescue to place a litter of pups with no regard to whether or not they're healthy and no regard for the needed communication skills that they get from the litter mates.

Also, I'd much rather see them in new homes so they aren't all spayed and neutered at eight WEEKS of age or something ridiculous like that. Rescues often do that and it's VERY discouraged because of growth problems and many other difficulties.

that is completely different. He was born in this person's home. Bigdogs took them in, knowing she couldn't properly take care of them the way a rescue could. Yes, its wonderful they were taken in from the cold. But there are things bigdogs could easily do. Such as keeping them for a week longer before getting rid of them. How hard is that? Vaccinating them. Sending a simple adoption application to possible new homes. Asking for vet references. (does that cost money? No..simple phone call). And making sure she has a contract, so that these puppies will be spayed and neutered and not add to the overpopulation down the line. But if she can't do that, and is just handing them out before she even knows they are healthy enough (they could be sick right now). That is irresponsible, and they would be better off at a rescue. (who could do all those things, and more).

I could get a perfectly bred pup off a breeder tomorrow and it die in a few weeks.

My mate got a puppy from the RSPCA which died about 2 months later.

Dogs die no matter where you get them from or under what circumstances.

People are making such a HUGE deal of this, when really, it's not that big a deal. She took them in from the cold... she fed them... and now she's moving them on.

Just skipping the middle man.

The new owners can do all that and more. And in a nice loving environment.

Oh my - 6 weeks old..... stop the press.

It's early. But it's not going to kill them. Going into a shelter might just do that.

If she hadn't done that then you wouldn't have to worry because the pups would be rotting by now.

She rescued them, she took responsibility. Responsibility includes a waiting period to ensure that they don't have parvo. Responsibility includes allowing them a chance to develop better skills with their litter mates.

Yes, stop the press. 6 weeks is too young for them to be taken away from each other. 3 days is no where near long enough to know if they'll become sick.

She took on the responsibility for them when she took them in. She should follow through on that.

Well, I'll be sure next time I save a box of pups out the cold to ship them straight off to the nearest shelter to be PTS.

Clearly that is a better outcome for the world.

Hey, at least they're not adding to overpopulation? :D

Are you really that convinced these dogs are going to grow up malfunctioning? I'm not sold.

It is better if they are sick to be taken to the vet by the rescue. It isn't fair for someone to adopt a new puppy, just so they can turn around and pay a bunch of vet bills a couple days later because the "rescue" gave them a sick puppy.

So my dog should have been taken to a rescue? I shouldn't have been prepared to do all that myself out my own pocket? I shouldn't have got her knowing FULL well she needed worming/fleaing/vaccinating?
Your dog came from an irresponsible person who had an oops litter. These puppies were taken in by someone who considers herself a rescue. BIG difference.

Also, I'd much rather see them in new homes so they aren't all spayed and neutered at eight WEEKS of age or something ridiculous like that. Rescues often do that and it's VERY discouraged because of growth problems and many other difficulties.
Much better to be spayed early by a rescue, then not spayed at all..and even more unwanted puppies to be born.

Yes, she took them in. NOW she can give them to a rescue to do the real work that will benefit the puppies and new owners.

My head hurts from this thread lol.

So she has a BRAND NEW litter of 11 puppies. Okay.. good deal.

And now a litter of 6 week old mystery puppies that could be infecting the other 11 puppies with God know what...

I understand she did a good thing by taking these 6 in, and you guys are right, they MAY NOT die. They MAY NOT get sick.

But the consequences of them getting sick and/or getting the other 11 sick, in my honest opinion, FAR outweigh her good deed.
