We are getting a new dog!!!!

We have decided it's time. Our dear Odie passed away a couple of months ago and now we just have Bear. My husband and I have been talking and we both agree we want another dog. It will probably be another mix breed and I would like to get it from the Humane Society. I feel a little guilty because I would like a puppy. I have never had a puppy in my adult life. I've always adopted older dogs that needed homes. I would like to have the puppy experience just once in my life. But, I've been looking at the Humane Society web side at the pics of adoptable dogs and there are some that are trying to steal my heart already. One is a beautiful Chow/shepard mix (same as my Bear) that is 4-years-old. I don't know, I'm confused!!!

Perhaps you'll hit it lucky when you get there and they will have some puppies. Regardless, I am sure you will find a connection with one special furpal who will steal your heart and be a wonderful companion for all of you.

There are lots of puppies on petfinder. I'm sure that you won't have any problem finding one if you don't mind driving a bit farther.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone - I am excited! I should probably wait until after my daughters Grad party, which is in 2 weeks, but it sure is fun looking. BTW, thanks for mentioning Petfinder, I found a bunch of links to shelters near me. I will let you all know when the big decision is made!

when you see the right dog/pup you will know. where do you live ? there are some gorgeous great pyrenees golden retreiver mixes in a shelter in north carolina. they are all puppies under 4 months old. lots of luck

Don't feel guilty about wanting a puppy. It's ok. If you think about it, all puppies need a home. The dogs that are in the shelter now were puppies once, just like some of the puppies that are out there now will sadly end up in shelters. All dogs need a home and if you want a puppy, get a puppy. There are plenty of mixed breed pups that need you, or purebred. You will know what is right for you, but please know that puppies are a ton of fun, but a TON of work!!! Let us know when you get your new pal!!

We got our Husky from at shelter at 2 years old. She slowly starting to turn out to be a good dog. It's been a long, hard, road but it's also a road that I am glad that I traveled. We originally went to the shelter to see another animal (a wymerina) puppy. I think I spelled that right, I don't know though. But when we saw her just sitting in her cage quietly staring at us, as if she was studying us, we couldn't resist her and had to bring her home.
