I was going to wait until after we got him to post this... But....
I've been in contact with a corn snake breeder (since before the rats came into the picture) because I've been really wanting a bloodred corn snake for a while, preferably one that will mature to a darker cherry red rather than the bright red bloodreds I see a lot.
This breeder has a clutch of bloodreds that are exactly what I want. He even has a male that has the right coloring I'm looking for when I really want a male and the hubby approved. Everything has been set in stone, we just confirmed the date we will get him. One of my friends is picking up one of the females from the same clutch so it will be interesting to compare how they both mature. Their dad is a deep dark almost black cherry colored snake so I'm hoping my little guy ends up maturing to look somewhat like his father, but he will be beautiful regardless.
He's just a hatchling right now. It will be interesting to see if he turns a solid red or if he retains some of his pattern.
These are the only 2 pictures I have of him. Both pics were taken by the breeder.
I have to say, snakes are definitely addicting. I have to wait to get a third until we are in a house though. The only exception would be if for some reason my friend couldn't keep the female from this clutch because that snake is actually the one I originally wanted, but I had my heart set on a male so...
