Romeo's heading to the vet tomorrow, I'm having some concerns about his mobility lately, he seems off to me. "Just ain't right"! Laying down frequently while playing/out walking, was not wanting to stay in a sit during class this week. His gait just seems off though I can't pinpoint where he's hurting.

Vibes for I'm just worrywort or it is something simple?

Sending Romeo lots of healing vibes. Let us know what the vet says.

Romeo tested positive for lyme, and the vet confirmed there didn't seem to be anything specific that was painful other than general ouchyness in his back end. So we are treating the lyme and hopefully that's that! :)

We did do some bloodwork to recheck his kidneys, and since I trust this vet more than others I have used. Little nervous about that but hopefully it is all alright.

We also discussed his eyesight, and she suggested I might want to have an ophthalmologist evaluate him (or have the PRA genetic test done). She feels that he is pretty visual in the daylight and that it's a little odd he has gone so long between being blind at night, and he is still visual during the day. She suggested that although it is probably PRA, there is a chance it could be a different retinal disease. So, we might go ahead and at least get a preliminary exam done to determine where he's at or what to expect in terms of blindness.

Lyme disease is no fun, but at least it is treatable! I hope he recovers quickly.

Best of luck with his other testing, too.

His bloodwork came back clean, his UA showed blood in his urine (though no infection). :wall: Now we get to skip back to the vet and xray for stones. Ohhh, this dog and his health. My stress levels do not appreciate this, Romeo.

Glad you figured out the lyme, it can be tricky!

A few years ago, Jackson came up completely holding his back leg up, and after 2 days, I took him in to the vet. Xrays showed nothing, then lymes test came positive. Crazy, he stopped limping within 6 hrs of meds.

I love our ophthalmologist so much. He is wonderful to work with and very, very knowledgeable. We started seeing him when Bailey tested affected for PRA. She has seen him almost every year since then.

I just bring the gang in for routine eye exams and it's only $35. Definitely worth it.

Went to the vet this morning. He still had blood in his urine. They did xrays and an ultrasound and couldn't find anything. Vet thinks it could be an infection that didn't show on the UA, that the antibiotics he is on is clearing up (there was less blood than his first UA). Sigh! My medical mystery dog <3. Going to repeat the UA when he finishes his antibiotics and if there is still blood, then off we go to a specialist.

So, the xrays showed some other problems in his body, and to put it lightly he has the back of a byb dachshund. He has degenerative disc disease, spondylosis, and a sort of curvature of the spine. :( No extreme exercise for him anymore, no 'forced' jumping. My dogs are getting older :(.

Thanks, I will tackle this soon :).
