Val is very handsome! I love greys with dark manes and tails.

$20 a bale is terrifying! Is that just grass hay, or is it alfalfa? I've been trying to find alfalfa bales around here, and people keep telling me that if I do find it, I should expect to pay $20+ a bale. So far, it is impossible to find, but it certainly seems like it goes for a lot more than the nice timothy/alfalfa mix bales we normally see here.
Have you looked into these? http://www.standleehay.com/ViewProduct.aspx?type=cb&id=pac

They sell them at our local TSC. I've never used the compressed bales themselves, but I've used the pelleted hay this company produces and have been happy with it.

I haven't - I'll have to see if we have anyone carrying it around here. I've tried the Top Quality alfalfa bales and he wouldn't touch it. He does eat the fresh alfalfa outside, so I'm still trying to find normal alfalfa hay to see if he'll eat that. Thanks for pointing these out!

Thanks everyone!

The $20 is for Alfalfa. My daughter's old horse eats it, and both Lips get a flake a day. The real horror here is Orchard grass or Timothy, we're talking $25-35 a bale WHEN available. Bermuda is at $18 a bale, but I'm not thrilled with it enough to feed it.
