How much would a vet bill cost around there?
The cheapest place my mom found was 60 to 80 bucks for the visit IF its a UTI and 15 for meds. If its more than just a UTI than its going to cost much more for tests to be done to find out what it really is. I know its not much, but it is when you dont even have $10 to your name.

My mom mentioned to me earlier that the vet she talked to yesterday told her its best to wait until she gets the money next wednesday to bring her in, because she could very well survive this if she gets in by then. Choosing to end her life now doesn't seem right if she could survive this.

For an update... still blood in urine, of course. She was excited to go out and take a walk today. Not sure exactly how much she has eaten. I seen her drink from the water bowl once. Nothing else I noticed.

.
What sort of vets have you got round there :yikes: I would certainly be talking to other vets if this one said let your dog carry on in pain until you can pay - thats disgusting and needs reporting! Could you not talk to other vets to see if you can get something done on payment terms?

you know I am just getting tired of it gang. I can not understand waiting even if you are broke. I would call animal control and I would not care what mom said or thought , Sorry but this is cruelty and that is the long and short of it. To know an animal is suffering and do nothing says a whole lot about character. Your mom does not love that dog !!! This is an abomination !!! I am sorry but this is wrong in a million and one ways and I am just sick about it. Turn it over to animal control !!!

I have some serious doubts as to the truth of it.
I was waiting for this to pop up. I think the same thing.
And only after 3-4 pages we learn it's an unaltered female. If the eyes arn't yellowing it's not the liver and if the mouth isn't foul with pneumonia it's not acute infection of the kidneys. Somethings fishy.
Gosh, this poor mother is going through the ringer on this thread about a family dog, where everyone is puttin' the blame on her. I bet she does more than her fair share taking care of all the people in the house, and now this.
If noone in this family has 80 bucks to take the dog to the vet, how in the world will you people take care of a newborn baby who costs wayyyyyyyyy more than a vet visit? For my child I spend 100.00 + on just formula every week. I bet the mother will do more than her fair share again raising a grandchild and still be the one to blame.

Why, what a silly question - they will suck it out of hardworking taxpayers like me of course!

I sense some skepticism of the current state of politics in this country:p

The two party system isnt great but its all we have right now and we have to try to work within it to get what we want.

Well I didn't want to offend/get yelled at but I'm glad someone else voiced my suspicion. I could go further and tie in the agility post and money given to that poster as a cause for this post but I've no proof.

No one in your family has freaking $80? How are you even getting by? Even if you don't have the cash, certainly you have something you could sell. A cell phone, a piece of jewelry, a piece of furniture, a stereo, anything. Everyone in your family could donate blood plasma and pay for it. We are not talking about an expensive surgery here, we are talking about an office visit and some antibiotics. If your mom can't afford that for her dog, then she shouldn't have the dog at all in my opinion.

If it's a UTI, it's pretty far advanced because in the beginning, blood would not likely be seen....not until there is tissue and capilary damage. This poor dog is likely suffering. People should not have dogs if they don't have the funds to care for them. So sad.
It probably started out as a UTI and turned into a severe kidney infection after going untreated.
