also, do you notice any yellowing of the eyes or when you open the dogs mouth do you smell a pneumonia type smell?

If you can get a urine sample, anyone can send samples to a lab IE: Omega and pay the bill cash for results. If you have an extra 20.00 send a sample of urine asking for a citrated plasma bio. If it comes back positive for aflatoxin email these people the results right away, [email protected]. Your bills might be covered by a Student University. Maybe this will help you.

You can also get a urinalysis done by TVMDL (Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostics Labratory).

http://tvmdlweb.tamu.edu/

Then go to Tests and do a search for Urinalysis. It's like $10 but will take a couple of days to get there. They e-mail you your results though so you get those almost instantly.

The test itself takes about 20 minutes to run, most of which is simply centrifuging the sample.

My mom would never put down her dog, so I know that suggestion is out the window. Whatever it is that is wrong with her dog, I know its going to be much worse by next wednesday. My mom is lucky that Brandon gets paid again before she does and is willing to give her money, otherwise she would have to wait until the 3rd of next month to get her dog seen.
Your mom would never put down her dog, but she would just watch it suffer like this? This doesn't make any sense to me. If your mom is not letting her dog get medical attention and she refuses to give it to a humane society, I think the dog needs to be put down. This dog is suffering and it'll only get worse if it doesn't get seen by the vet. This is really a sad, sad story. :(

You keep saying you have to think of your child first...well...if the dog is as aggressive as you say, wouldn't it be a danger to your child? Just wondering..I hope everything works out ok.
It probably would be.... but again it's not HER dog.

Sorry this again may not be popular but do you not have a humane society? If I knew someone was neglecting a dog like this, whoever it was, I would report them at least that way the dog may get some relief and possibly a decent home to go to after treatment.
You might want to read the entire thread to get the whole story. I have repeated myself as to why her dog can absolutely NOT be rehomed. Her dog would be put to death by any dog shelter before irresponsibly placing her in another home.

At the risk of sounding like a complete @ss, I think that may be preferable to dying of poisoning like it is.

Considering the long list of why the dog doesn't go to the vet............one could also assume that the dog is also not fixed. But I will ask again......
IS THIS DOG SPAYED??
My mom did not get her dog spayed, because both of my parents planned on breeding her. Thank god it never worked. When she comes into heat its not a full heat anymore. She bleeds a teeny tiny bit and she doesnt swell as much as she used to. Why? I have no idea. She was purchased at a nasty pet shop in our local mall. She is also going blind and only 5 years old. If you were to see her, you would think that she is at least 10.

You've got that right. I worry about that very much. Its sad because I am going to refuse letting my mom baby sit her own grandchild. No way am I going to leave my child in her care with her dog. Cant wait to move out when the lease is up. I am not letting that dog anywhere NEAR my child!!

Ya it is well advanced in my opinion from what I see here, usually after 75% blood a plug (tissue) coagulation forms and piddle will eventually stop completely and cause death. It's sad really, because there would have been symptoms in the early stages to avoid this.
If it's not to late, and the plug didn't form yet, you need to go to the vet ASAP or the dog will suffer similiar to that of antifreeze poisoning from within if plugged. If the plug rooted the canal either pay 2,000.00 plus (chances of survival are very slim) or PTS.
This dog is suffering. Can I ask what food you have him eating most his life?
Its my moms dog, not mine, so I dont feed her anything. I mother feeds her benefull (sp?). And I know its not the best food in the world. Its actually one of the worst. My mom was asking me the other day about dog foods that would be better for her.

I have told her and told her and told her that her dog IS suffering and that she needs to see the vet ASAP. I explained to her the dangers of kidney failure, cancer, stones, and painful UTI. But she has it in her mind that she is ok, that she will be fine until next week. She is in denial. She just wont listen to me!!

Today I noticed that my mom seems very depressed. On the verge of tears. Her dog isn't eating or drinking much anymore.

I dont see yellow in the eyes. As for her mouth, she is aggressive and will bite me if I try to pry it open. I will get my mom to do it though.

Thanks for the link. I will tell my mom about it and I will give her the money for it.

This situation is getting to me really really bad. Its tearing me apart. I cant stand to see a dog going through this let alone watch my mother be on the verge of tears after going through the death of her husband 8 months ago. I am going to plead to brandon to just give her the money he has saved for the car that desperately needs fixed. I guess he will have to walk about 7 miles back and forth to work after working 12 hour shifts. I cant just sit here and watch this go on anymore. I hope brandon will understand, but I am not sure if he will do this.

Reggin if you care as you say and your mom is not going to do anything about it you need to step in and call animal control. I am sorry but to sit back and wish things were different rather then to step up and make them different is contributing to the neglect and abuse of this poor animal.
think about it what if you needed help and everyone talked about it and no one acted upon it !!!

This is just such a sad situation :( It's making me sick just thinking about how much pain that poor dog must be in right now.

Honestly, I would take the dog to the humane society... at least the dog will be humanely euthanized rather than die a slow and agonizing death.

Right now your baby is more important, and it isn't worth Brandon losing his job over this. The dog is your mom's responsibility- you say she loves the dog, but then you say that she blows money on unimportant things. If you pay for her dog's health problems now, what is going to happen when the dog is sick again? What is going to happen if Brandon loses his job?

If the dog is not eating or drinking much anymore, it is very possible that her organs are shutting down and she will die a slow, agonizing death. She's better off being euthanized if she can't be treated asap. I'm so sorry you're going through this....sort of between a rock and a hard place, but somehow, you've got to get that dog taken care of, one way or another so she doesn't suffer. I'm so sorry and sad to think of that dog in this state. And sorry for you. Your Mom needs to do something and pronto.

I am absolutely sick over this !!!! I cannot see a dog suffer ...much less not feeling well . If you think that your Mom is depressed now ..... wait a couple more days when her dog dies because of neglect .

If brandon wont give her the money tonight when he gets off work, then I guess I will have to take action and call animal control. But then I have to take into consideration that my mother will HATE me for this and might even throw me out of the house. Kick me out. Being 8 months pregnant, I dont see this as a good thing. That dog is her life and if she sees that I am the one who killed her dog, which is what she will think in her mind, then... well... I guess you can draw your own conclusions on what she might do. Even though my boyfriend pays half of the bills, I dont think she will even care to get evicted and find another place as long as I dont live with her.

Maybe my thinking is completely wrong, and I should risk my own child for someone elses dog. Someone elses responsibility. I am just trying to look at the whole picture. Look at anything and everything that could happen and what should happen.

Good point. If I had the money right now and got her dog seen by the vet and saved... Its just a matter of time before something like this happens again, because she refuses to save money. I am not going to be here for her to come to EVERY time something happens and needs money. I am risking my babies father losing his job over this, and MY baby will suffer in the end.
