Pretty sure this was just a suggestion, not a complaint.... People really do like to nitpick certain people!
Yeah it wasn't a complaint, just mentioning it in conversation I did get spam via PM & always reported it when I discovered it.

I can deal with the CAPTCHA myself but because there are members who have issues reading them & such, Im confident that a happy medium will be reached.

The people having trouble with this Captcha, why not get Tapatalk? A lot of people use that and it works fine, no entering things in to boxes.

Also, what exactly is Captcha? This is the first time I've heard of it.

I'm posting this on a phone. Its not that difficult... not once did I scroll up to check if its right after typing it.
I do on my phone. No, it's not difficult but it is annoying.

I'm glad something will be done about the spam, but having to verify every.single.post. seems excessive to say the least. It seems like something like requiring an introduction post or requiring a certain number of posts before the verification stops would be much more user friendly and still cut back on the spam significantly. <--That was a construction suggestion for those following along at home.

Isn't tapatalk a phone/tablet app? I only access chaz from my laptop. Can you download it for windows?

Captcha is the word/image verification thing.

Tapatalk is a phone only thing.

Someone is the champion of back peddling.

I can see this really limiting the entertainment of quick replies in arguments. Bummer.

across intouci

Yeah I don't like it very much. Captcha's are very obnoxious.

Example: I messed up the captcha on this post.

As annoying as it is, it seems to be helping!

I've only deleted 3 spam threads this evening.......and look down at the 'currently active users' When is the last time you've seen that list so small? Seriously!

I don't care much for these recaptchas, but hopefully it won't be set up like this forever and it's seems to be slowing down the spam for now! :D

I felt the same way--three spam threads so far--that is a far cry from hundreds each time I'd log in during the day!
It may be a pain in the patootie--but at least halting the spam is a step in the right direction!

Any word on why our spam is that bad?

Traffic is fairly low compared to some sites with less spam. Some of them have fairly simple registration too. I know old software, but it did have a registration captcha.

Part of the problem is recaptcha itself. The second word tends to be gibberish because of how it works. Its pulling words that word recognition couldn't id.

Oh, Captcha... you remind me that I'm old every time I have to squint at the screen and ask myself "wtf does that say?" :p

But I'm super happy that videos can be posted anywhere.

I don't know what "the ptatedge" is, though.

It's irritating. I would rather deal with the spam then deal with the captcha. The spam was humorous at times. :D
But that is the problem. WE aren't dealing with the spam, the mods are and then we complain they don't mod enough because they don't have the time or desire after dealig with hundreds of spam posts each day.

It is only day one. I know it is annoying but let's give it some time no? Give them time to figure out a way to configure it so we don't have to do it on every post. They are working on it. Rome wasn't built overnight :)

Can I ask the mods, is it possible to try the intro required before granting posting privileges? Or conversely I guess the "after xx posts you can quick reply".

Yeah I do appreciate that the mods are not being swamped now but I don't think this is a workable solution in the long run. I think it will greatly decrease traffic and people participating.

I think a system where you need X posts approved or captcha'd or whatever first would be a good system. Or require a mod approved intro, I've been on forums with that too.

ETA: Captcha struck me again. I'm really freakishly bad at these...

Not a mod but what I gathered from Eddies announcement post is they are trying to figure that out. How to do that and if it will work and how to make it work. I think this is as new to them as it is to us.

Btw my captcha (i hate the word captcha LOL I don't know why) this time was sugar censtit... Sounds like a stripper name hahaha
