I didn't say I had a problem and then say I didn't. You misunderstood my problem, most likely because I was too wordy with my explanation, and possibly used too big of words. Nobody here would be calling me such horrible things if I had never mentioned my puppy's mom or that other situation. It would simply be dogs fighting, and how to solve it. I'm sure spaying would come into the picture, and believe me I have no intention of breeding her. Spike was already scheduled to be neutered, and she would be next if I decided to do that. Again, I'm sorry, but I don't trust the people on this board over licensed veterinarians and dog behavioral specialists. It's something I will have to consider. I cannot believe that any thinking human being would belittle me for that. I'm dumbfounded! Who ARE you people? PETA rejects? **Please note that some members have been VERY kind, and I thank you profusely.**

I think this will be my last post here. I thought this was a place with a wealth of information to be found from various walks of life, and perhaps I would learn something new that would help my situation. Instead I have been called names, told I should euthanize my dog (it'll be a cold day in hell), told I had no business having dogs and treated like a criminal. I'm surprised nobody has tracked me down and called my county dog control to turn me in. I NEVER expected this kind of treatment and you should be ashamed of yourselves. The message boards I frequent would immediately suspend any member treating another member this way. Where are the moderators?

What makes a good pet owner is someone who wants the best for their pet. You and I may not agree on what the best is. In fact, you may feel so strongly about what YOU believe is best for all pets, that anyone not holding the same opinion is met with hostility. Rather than trying to get me to open MY mind, perhaps you should consider that your way may not be the ONLY way.

Personally, I am thrilled we had Sally. I wish I had known her mother was such a prey dog before we had bred her. I would not have done it had I known. But Sally is a wonderful dog, beautiful and smart. She is simply fighting with her brother right now. I so wish you could have just helped me with THAT problem, rather than getting into why I bred her mom, why I haven't spayed her, and what bra size I wear. (Yes, I'm a female).

If this were about abortion or religion, I would expect this kind of passion. BUT COME ON!! These are dogs! Babies are murdered every day in this country...what are you doing about that? Take the energy you're using to try to make me feel small, and use it for the common good of MAN kind. Your passion is admirable, allbeit misplaced.

I would have understood if I had bred a litter, dumped them at a shelter, and had a dog that was going after other dogs and people for you to treat me this way. Nevermind. I'm too upset now to even continue.

Oh...and on a side note, my dog is NOT inferior just because she needs more training and isn't a purbred. In addition to judgemental, you're racist too? You think only pure breeds should live? Didn't Hitler think that way? For folks who are protective of animals, you sure have a way of choosing who your compassion goes to. Ridiculous.

I now take my leave to return to the educated members of the human race. Manchester, joce, and the other attackers, you may kindly kiss my posterior.

And this is one of the posters that you can't reason with

I can think of many names to call you, but i didn't :p

People "murdering babies" isn't exactly my cause, animals are. No one attacked you.I understand your being definsive because you did something but why the attitude. I don't think any mod will tell us to lay off you because truthfully there are a lot more things that could be said. You seem like the type of person that will think throwing your dog in a pen in the backyard is the best for it and you don't care what anyone else thinks. Like I said before we offered suggestions and you make excuses. So what should we do? Tell you your right so your not offended?! It doesn't work like that. I hope you take some responcibility for your dogs.

And I actually feel even worse for your dog because it is a mutt you purposely bred. That is sad. I don't think I'm hitler and you have some odd views. I think the majority of the people o this forum are against people breeding mixes, not because we are dog racists  but because there are enough mixes around that a lot of us seem to end up taking in. That is why it is frustrating to hear this from you.

My dog was purposely bred a mutt! He's a bulldog and pitbull mix. He was purposely bred like that because his breeders like pitbulls and they liked bulldogs and they thought the dogs would make some nice looking puppies. They were right too they did make REALLY nice puppies. Do you feel the same way about people breeding labs and poodles and calling them labradoodles. To me those are mutts as well and the people that bred them should be treated the same way as people who breed any mutt. I am not sticking up or trying to be mean or nothing. I am just stating that sometimes dogs are bred even if they are producing a "mutt" dog because the people believe that those two dogs will produce a very nice dog, and a lot of the times they are right the puppies grow up beautiful and healthy without any types of problems. The dog shouldn't get your pity and sorrow because she's a mutt. She is NO different than a purebreed dog and shouldn't be treated ANY different as well. Just because she has no papers and her parents were different. She still has fur and four legs and wags her tail! She's still a dog, she's still man's best friend and she should be treated like that! Yes maybe the female should be spayed but the woman obviously has her reasons for not doing it. She is being responsible and neutering her male dog though.

well I didn't really trust people here either at first. I didn't really know what to believe and what not to believe. I did for a time trust my vet's word over something that was said here. She was not on this site long enough to learn to listen and respect what was being said to her because people jumped on her made her too defensive. Hardly anybody gave her advice. Most people were too busy jumping down her throat on why she breed a mutt to begin with and they weren't worried about trying to give her advice.

Emeraulde, you've asked for advice and been given it. Good advice. I gave you an excellent article on social isolation and you said 'thanks I've already got that, haven't used it, it's not the main problem...' but you have to start somewhere. If you started using NILIF or the social isolation technique or SOMEWHERE you would start to see results. It takes time. There is NO quick fix. And you have to start somewhere. If you gain control and respect of your dog, if you stop tying her up, if you get her spayed ... you WILL start to see results. You have been told all of this. There are ways to keep a digger in a kennel. Pound steel posts into the ground around the kennel so she can't get out even if she digs. What are they called Rebar? DON'T tie her up. Get her spayed. Start to train her using NILIF or clicker training and do it COMPLETELY not just half a$$ed.

Frankly, this whole situation just doesn't make sense and I'm begining to think that you might be a troll trying to get a dog forum riled up. It's very rare that two dogs are so aggressive that they have to get put down and then the owner gets MORE dogs who start to show signs of aggression - or at least a similar path that the others were on. That tells me that something is really wrong at home. You ask if you are bad dog owners?

The advice you get on this forum is often from professionals. From people so dedicated to canines that they spend all of their free time on these boards helping lost owners. And I'm glad you seek professional advice but you can't trust ALL trainers or ALL vets. Shop around, get second opinions. And if you truly want to help your dogs - stick around, read past threads, you'll find that anyone who has truly devoted themselves to overcoming their dog problems has done so with the help and support of this forum.

I see this going no where ! It's a none ending debate. Just don't be surprised if/when your female is bred by a dog jumping your fence or getting in the same way your dog got out and killed two lovely pets. I unfortunaley bred Bubba once to a lovely golden female ( everything checked and certified ) and the breeder had her in an outside pen..Unknown to him a dog got in and she ended up with mixed black and golden puppies.....SO irresponsible !! Obviously, you aren't going to spay your dog.....and you will continue to have fighting dogs.

I don't agree with breedng labs and poodles at all. I feel that way about all people that mix breeds.I don't see them as "real breeders". If you love and work with a breed you will not mix it. There are enough breeds now to fit everyones situation and there isn't really a need.Just because it will make a cute mix is not a reason to throw them together. I'm sure you love your mutt just like I love mine. Mine was a pound dog and I love her all the same but I never bred her.

The dog needs felt for becuase it is likely to end up in the same situation as its mother. If the mom would have been fixed in the beginning her aggression may have never came out. I never said she wasn't a dog. It isn't the dogs fault and i never said it should be treated badly for that. Not sure where you got that from. Any dog like that bred on purpose(or irresponcibly) takes the place from another dog that needed a home. Have you ever been to a pound and seen all the REALLY nice puppies? Most are no different than purbreeds. Doesn't mean it was good to breed them! Not to mention all the mixes from "quality breeders" I see thrown in the pound or free in the paper with health problems. Not getting into this anymore. The original poster apparently isn't going to learn anything anyway.

I've been to the pound a few times. That is were we got our Husky from. I am not breeding any of my three dogs, the two females are purebreeds. My mix was neutered a short while ago and our husky was spayed shortly after we adopted her. Our other female is a lab and she's not old enough to get spayed yet. I don't think I have the correct understanding of dogs, or time, to breed and then raise a litter of puppies. I think the original poster of this thread is long gone already. What is a troll Saje? Do people really just come on to the sites to get people arguing at each other and then leave and think it's funny?

That's exactly what a troll is. I'm not saying it's true but I'm starting to lean that way since we're running around in circles. I'd love to help her dogs if it is a true but I'm just not sure anymore.

ya know, Saje, I have to agree with the troll idea. who comes to a forum..talks about how their neighbors dogs were killed by theirs...but they get more who are aggressive.....and then gets defensive immediately when some people question the 'whys' of it all. I hope that story IS made up....I'm still feeling sorry for the neighbors.

Yeah, hearing about how BOTH the neighbors dogs were killed was a little extreme.

..I was like, "whoah".

Regardless, I PM'd him some help... I guess I fell for it if he was a troll.

Oh well, it's good to help people

I have pm'd the folks who were helpful. I just wanted to make sure a few things were known. First, I'm a WOMAN, not a boy. Second, the story is sadly true.

Who comes to a forum, spills their guts, then leaves? I suggest you re-read the thread. Maybe if someone comes out of genuine need then gets their a$$ handed to them, they might not want to stick around? Even a dog would turn tail and get out of dodge.

It doesn't matter. I appreciate the help I have received from a select few. I will likely lurk around abit and see if there are any other tidbits I can read in past threads, but will try to refrain from posting.

If anyone wants an update on our situation, just pm me. I've made decisions on what we'll do next, but obviously wo'nt know if it's working for some time yet.

Ok.. forgive me if i missed something, but could you tell me what breed your dogs are? Other was mixed? What breed bigger dog is?
In some breeds, like Pittbull (and other breeds which are made for dog fights), dogs have different kind of hunting system than some other breeds. Wolf starts hunting with seeking, then (aargghh.. this is so hard to me 'cause i don't speak english.. ) "väijyy" , eying, chasing, scrab bite and last comes kill bite. Bordercollies inbuilt hunting system stops to scrab bite, but pittbull have only seeking and kill bite. I have seen a video where two pittbulls attack a young child waving their tails and don't even thought doing something wrong. This kind of "figting dogs" bite their hunted to death. It's a programme which is slowly built in their race so hard that mans didn't even notice before they took pittbull a couch potato. That's why pittbulls are "killer dogs" . If someone runs away from pittbull, dog runs after and bites. It's hunting on it's way. It can't warn you, it's instings tell it to do like that.
We have the same problem couple of years ago. Two of our bitches were fighting all the time. We thought that they have to end it by theirselves and figure which is stronger. But it just get worse. Then we decide to send younger girl away for a little time. She was "fixing her nerves" about two months, and when she came back, we didn't even let them to see each other. They didn't fight ever again. Now that younger girl walks down the rainbow bridge, but for another reason.
I hope your situation gets better, and you don't need to give up for them! Streght and courage for you..
Sorry to anyone about this sounding like a highjacking but... I own two pitbulls. I know many, many people who own pitbulls and they are one of the sweetest, most sensitive breeds I've ever come across. It is not in a pitbull's nature to be people aggressive, and if you don't believe me, check out the AKC's website for breed conformation. Before you pick a breed to bash, do you're research.

Thank you! I was feeling a little bad that the pitbull was put in a post and spoke of negatively. I have a pitbull mix. My boy is the BIGGEST baby you will ever come across. Anyway, if anyone was curious, I did email the woman who started this post and she just wrote me back. She is getting the male dog neutered next week and then she said the female would get neutered. She also said that she was going to fix the kennel in the back so the female wouldn't be able to escape, or atleast have a hard time doing so. She also said she would read prior threads on this site and see if she could find anymore helpful advice.

There seems to be alot of contraversy here over breeding two dogs of different breeds.
Whilst everyone is against this, nearly all of those people will go on to say that mutts are wonderful and great etc. This i suppose is because so many mixes end up in shelters. Although this is a massive problem in many countries, i will not condemn two people breeding their beloved pets to obtain a litter of which every pup is placed and they are willing to take any back. Of course they are not breeding for the betterment of the breed, but i beleive that breeding a dog purely for sheer temperament is not something to be frowned upon. Then again, the pups in shelters issue. It's a tough one!

That's true bridey but with a litter of say, seven, those owners who take in those pups are obviously ok with mixes and that is seven shelter animals that don't get adopted. That's how the cycle continues. Not to mention you never know if you will be able to keep in contact with those pups or where they will go or who they will end up with. They could very easily end up in a shelter as well.

All true. If only the ignorant people who breed by mistake, or on a whim, could stop ruining it for the really dedicated people who want to breed two lovely dogs and are ready to accept the responsibility. I would have bred my kelpie, if only the shelter issue did not exist. Instead i went and bought a pup from a shelter. Lovely little guy.

All mine are wonderful and all are from the shelter. There are so many amazing dogs there. I'd love to have another newfie or newfie cross like maverick but I'll only rescue. They are too appreciative of a new home. :D
