What's the difference between a figure 8 and a leg weave? To me that sounds like it should be the same thing?

A figure-8 is a stationary leg weave, or, inversely, weaving is a figure-8 in motion.

Ah ok! I was totally thinking that weaving would make a figure 8 and was confused. We haven't worked on this at all. It's hard with tiny dogs. I hate having to bend down all the time.

So this is were we are at with the one direction going backwards around my leg.

It's not the greatest, but it's progress ^_^

I started doing this and than realized he doesn't know pivot in the CCW direction. :rofl1: So we are going back to learning to pivot CCW instead of CW. Hopefully he'll be able to do both directions and we can start putting it all together and making it prettier.
Cutest face EVER!!!! <3

I always forget to teach things in both directions or on both sides.

Due to working on this trick I realized that Cohen had a reverse circle in both directions. Who knew??? Basically I think she just pivots until I tell her to stop, or she gets dizzy.

Slooooowly but surely!

Video includes a little bit from training sessions since Thursday I think, so just skip to the last 30 seconds or so if you want to see where we're at now. :)

Talon can now pivot around my legs in both directions! :) We are going to start working on putting it all together next!

Hahaha! Zuma is the same. We are working on smoothing out her reverse circle right now.

So this is our figure 8 lol. I'm totally luring him, and at this point, I'm not even sure he knows what he's doing. But... I guess it's a start?

I've been trying for years to get him to leg weave (while I'm walking) but never worked super hard on it. It's like he understands the concept of going under my legs, and he'll keep doing it, but it's very sloppy. He goes under once, then kind of looks at me for reassurance, then goes under again, looks up at me ... I don't know it definitely needs work.

His default 'leg' behavior is actually going backwards. So I think doing a backwards leg weave and figure 8 is going to be easier, we'll work on this tomorrow! :p

Proof!

Again, skip to the last 30 seconds if you want the current goods. I'm going to use these videos on my blog later so I wanted them to sort of be a progression.

Nice!!

I'll have to keep trying with Yarrow, I gave up for the time being, but will definitely revisit it...you've given us hope!

Also JacksonsMom that looks great! He's so cute!

Thanks. :)

What do people use to cue all these weaves? lol. Do you use "backward" and "forward" so the dog can differentiate?
I say "weave" for forward, I think a lot of people use "through" though, and "reverse" for backward.

Lol thanks, he was very much in a 'i want to work' mode.

ETA: I have no idea why the sound in my video isn't working. Hmph. Must have done something wrong when I uploaded it.
