The trucker non-profit group knocked the date back a week, so the new plan is for her to head out around the 26th. We're all awaiting further developments, you might say! ;)

Hopefully I can pick her up on Tuesday, though I've yet to hear from Op. Roger if she's coming this week.

Let's all pray that Tuesday is do-able, because I have a babysitter and a private flight to pick her up instead of driving 5 hours one way. We'll also be dropping off the old Pekinese in Aurora on our way back down, and it's still much shorter flight than driving...we'll be back in like 3.5 hours vs 10 hours.

Well, no call from the rescue/transport group yet--I guess she's here for a bit longer. ;)

I didn't get a call either, but to be honest, next week is much more flexible for me anyway...hubby starts leave on the 5th so he'll be home and I don't have to use the resources of a friend to babysit for the trip...

The old pekinese's owner and I talked on the phone last night. The Peke came from Spokane as well :) other than needing drops for her eyes she's in good health so that makes it much more feasible for flight...I was concerned that it may be un-advisable to do so due to the elevations we'll have to fly at in a non-pressurized cabin but my pilot assures me that they'll be fine and it should be peaceful for them.
Luckily both animals get to fly in cabin with us and not in cargo...lucky them, a private chartered flight :)

Shadow is ON HER WAY!!! :D She'll be going to Seattle, then to Denver. They said they would probably arrive in Denver on Thursday morning. The truckers were great, they have two cats of their own who travel with them.

I've got to admit, though, I choked up as I drove away. I love that little munchkin.

Haha glad she's on her way...wish they'd called and told me they were going to be here Thursday morning...that might pose a small issue with getting my oldest to school and whatnot.

I was wondering if they'd contacted you or not, ACampbell. I hope the timing conflict isn't too severe! *fingers crossed*

Anytime you need transport see my thread about Pilots for Paws in the rescue group of this board.

Lola's Dad...I have a friend that has his own plane and is a private pilot, you would be surprised at the cost of doing that...at almost $4 a gallon for fuel it's ridiculous, because they go in gallons per hour, and even his little 4 seater plane goes through approximately 10-13 gallons per hour, which would not make it very cost efficient from somewhere as far as Spokane. We are flying down to Oklahoma maybe this winter and it's going to be several hundred dollars to do so, for a 4 hour ride one way...this is much more cost efficient though I like the idea of the pilots doing it.

Got a call this afternoon from the folks that are transporting Shadow, what a nice couple! I may have made a semi-local friend as they live south of me.
Pick up is going to be tomorrow evening sometime just north of Denver so it all worked out wonderfully as I'll have plenty of time to get up there and back at only a 2.5/3 hour drive one way. Much better than the original plan even though we were going to fly up, it's much easier on my checkbook not having to split fuel with my buddy for his airplane.

This worked out wonderfully, Matt's birthday is Sunday, so just in time. :)

Yes, they are super nice. :) They called me today to let me know Shadow is doing great in the truck and is very comfortable with her surroundings. (I'm relieved because I was afraid she'd be scared of their two cats!)

Wow, that is great timing! Fate, I'm tellin' ya. :D Happy birthday, Matt!

We flew up to Denver this evening and picked her up. She's a bit spooked up, but seems to be fine. She ate a little bit when she got here and used the litter box and has resigned herself to chilling out.

I should have kept an eye on this...I was in Northern Denver today and could have brought her an hour closer to you.

Glad you've got her and she's seeming to accept all this!

We flew into Rocky Mtn Metro airport so it wasn't far, and they gave us a car to use for free.
She only got spooked up because we had some turbulence coming into Colorado Springs, so it was a bit bumpy for a bit, didn't do much for me either.

Yay! I've been checking this all night . . . I'm breathing a sigh of relief knowing she arrived safely. :)

Yeah we got home pretty late due to weather and we got dinner and all that while we were still in Denver since neither of us had eaten all day.
The ride back was pretty bumpy, especially in a small plane, but fun.
