How do you teach a dog to lay and roll over? :confused

its takes a lot of time and effort, anc its something you have to do over and over and over again. I was at a friends house over the weekend, and her dog, 8 years old, is the picture perfect dog with manner and does all these cute tricks. Have you tried contacting a trainer to just show you the basics, and then you can take it from there and do it at home?

You might want to pick up a good training video and/or book. I'm terrible. I let my older dogs teach the younger ones, since they learn well by example.
