Okay heres the sich.

Went skiing and yeah busted my knee, so am on crutches. Snoop is so good and walks with husband when husband is home. But now work week started and I usually walk Snoop during the day. We live on the 11th floor.So cannot let dog out in yard. We have a long balcony and Snoop has done pee and poop once there. We never scolded him. But when I take him to the same spot and try to encourage him to do some buisness he looks at me with sad eyes. I know we both miss our walks together and he senses something is wrong with me. Can I retrain him to do necessary buisness on balcony or will this confuse him. Help.

Sorry to hear about your knee!
Do you know anyone living in the apartment who might be willing to take Snoop on a walk for you when your husband is working? Maybe if you are friends with someone in the apartment you could ask them if they'd help you out with this.

Wish I could, have a great neighborh with a husky, rottie and two cats but she is out during the day.
Others I know, who like us, do not like dogs and do not wish walk them. Still looking however. Thx for thoughts. It's sad because many of the neighborhs who live here are fantastic, will care for kids and plants, buy your groceries and such, but because so many come from other countries that do not regard dogs as more than bother or the other extreem, freak out when dogs are near. So has been frustrating.

I suppose if you left him on the balcony long enough he'd realize that's the place he's supposed to do it, but.....hmm. Are there any kids that live there?? If their school let out early enough and you found someone responsible, they could bring him out. Or check the phone book for a dog walking/pet sitting business.

Thx again. So far my good old girlfriend from the US has been driving over to help out. She is just great with Snoop. She is a horse woman but has good repore with Snoop. He gets this little dance going when she shows. I am thankful for her. I suppose I am over protective with Snoop. He is still working on fear aggression with other dogs. Gee Whiz I am so negative. Okay enough of that. Guess I just miss my walks withmy boy.

Greentiger - that is tough! Poor both of you. I'm sure Snoops understands that you aren't moving as well as you were.

Hmm. What a pickle. So, people in the building can't/don't want to help. Kids are in school. Do any kids come home for lunch? How long are you going to be on crutches? If it's a long time you might want to put up a notice at the local school for a lunch time dog walker. Most kids love animals and are looking to work for a little extra cash.

Is there a doggy day care near you? Maybe someone there could be encouraged to come and pick him up for an hour or so of play time and potty time.

I don't know. That is a tough one.

Well good news. First my buddy from the states has offered to take Snoop on her power walks. He loves her and she loves animals. Also she is aware of his fear aggression. Wish the kids here were a little more skilled with animals. Snoop really needs someone who he can count on. Anyway, the knee thing is a pain, might have to have surgery. But recovery could be fast with new knee tech stuff. Keeping chin up as they say. Snoop has been staying close and giving lots of kisses so hey thats is nice.
