I saw this on another site, and I thought it was a really cool idea. Everyone who participates will go to a tourist spot near them and buy touristy items (t-shirts, postcards, mugs, pens, keychains, etc) which they will send to the person on the other end of the swap.

I guess that everyone who is interested will post in this thread. Then, a random third party person will divide the names up and you will get a person to send things to.

Kind of like secret santa... only with tourist stuff.

Also, we should probably come up with a minimum number of posts in order to participate. I don't want someone with 3 posts wanting to do this and then never actually send anything out.

Would there be a suggested dollar figure ie 10 bucks or something (I would feel guilty if I sent something of lesser value.)

Sounds cool, I'm in. And I like the posting rule, too.. Now, by "near" you mean like.. within the state, right? I don't have any /good/ touristy places "near" me except Bull Run.

By "near" I mean interstate.

I know that even in pretty barren locations, there are still some "touristy" areas.

For example, since I live in Orlando I will probably put together a whole bunch of tourist brochures... and then random souvineers from different locations. Maybe some Disney/Seaworld/Universal stuff :)

It's not about the money... there are a TON of cheap touristy things you can get, along with brochures/fliers to places. I figured a max of $20, but anything under that is fine. I'd love for this to be fun and inexpensive.
