I saw this on another site, and I thought it was a really cool idea. Everyone who participates will go to a tourist spot near them and buy touristy items (t-shirts, postcards, mugs, pens, keychains, etc) which they will send to the person on the other end of the swap.

I guess that everyone who is interested will post in this thread. Then, a random third party person will divide the names up and you will get a person to send things to.

Kind of like secret santa... only with tourist stuff.

  4. Sounds like an awesome idea, I'm in for it!

Also, we should probably come up with a minimum number of posts in order to participate. I don't want someone with 3 posts wanting to do this and then never actually send anything out.

Would there be a suggested dollar figure ie 10 bucks or something (I would feel guilty if I sent something of lesser value.)

Let's keep it low !!! The tackier the better ! I'll go yes if cheap ! Why spend $10 t0 $20 plus mailing for a white elephant .

  12. The price doesn't really matter to me. Can we also send like brochures and stuff with the souveniers??

That would be even better :p

The price doesn't matter to me... Anything between $10-20 would be reasonable, I think.

I'm lucky since I live in Orlando! There is so much stuff here.

Sounds cool, I'm in. And I like the posting rule, too.. Now, by "near" you mean like.. within the state, right? I don't have any /good/ touristy places "near" me except Bull Run.

  16. I love this idea... there are so many possibilities!!

And who knows, maybe your person will come visit near you :D

    By "near" I mean interstate.

I know that even in pretty barren locations, there are still some "touristy" areas.

For example, since I live in Orlando I will probably put together a whole bunch of tourist brochures... and then random souvineers from different locations. Maybe some Disney/Seaworld/Universal stuff :)

It's not about the money... there are a TON of cheap touristy things you can get, along with brochures/fliers to places. I figured a max of $20, but anything under that is fine. I'd love for this to be fun and inexpensive.
