I'm a little worried. I noticed a few weeks ago that Maverick has a spot on his tongue. It looks like a mole but greenish colour. I think he has one on the back of his tongue too.

Do they get spots there or could this be a sign of something more serious like cancer?

I'll try and take a pic but with Maverick I usually just get a nose. LOL

I don't think so. I managed to get a few pics.

(And I mean further back in the mouth) For the first few days I thought some grass or something was stuck to it. I'm really not sure how long it's been there. Maybe I didn't notice at first. :(

Hammie had something on his tongue that was driving Debi around the bend. Come to think of it, I can't remember what that ended up being. Think I'll check with her . . .

Sorry they aren't so good. It's not that easy! Plus it's dark so the lighting is bad. I'll try outside tomorrow.

No! LOL Seriously Renee, it's been there for weeks. Maybe longer. I can't remember when I first say it but I"m watching it. It hasn't changed. Maybe I should take him in just in case. I'd rather catch something soon if it is serious. I'd hate to see my baby suffer!

Thanks! I will go as soon as I can afford it. Not the next paycheque but the one after. Unless Debi scares me in which case VISA can wait a little longer. :D

Hmmm. At least I'm not the only one. Maverick's has a greenish hue though....

I've decided that I'll take them both in and get vaccinations... (they're due) and have them look at the tongue at the same time. Kill two birds ... pay one visit fee. Vets are outrageous!

Now which of the two vets should I see...

Saje, Hammie's black spot started as something very small....the size of a mole on his tongue at around 8 mos. old. Next thing I knew...it was growing!! I was also soooooo worried about something awful, like a cancer..so I posted a pic (not a good one cause he kept turning his head) but it's in my gallery so take a look and see if it's similiar. I couldn't understand why the vet didn't say anything about it, but turns out that black spots are normal for any dog predominantly black in color. Also common in GSDs (Hammie is mostly black, too) He now has 2 black spots.......they still annoy me cause they just look awful! It isn't even abnormal for some dogs to have a black tongue....YIKES. Since you are taking Maverick for a check-up anyway...you'll feel better having it checked. :)

Thanks Debi. That makes me feel better that they get spots like that. I will ask when I bring them in but I'm a little less worried. :)
