AGILITY CLASS
:banana::banana::banana:

YAAAAAAY! I accidentally registered for this class a while ago and then realized I could actually attend, so then I got Lindsey to sign up too. Woohoo! I'm so excited. I decided to take Macky instead of Keeva because I think the puppy needs more foundation work and impulse control. And because Macky is a really fun dog to work.

I'm bringing treats, clicker, and tug toy... do I need anything else?

I'm bringing a screaming banshee that will embarrass me. Anything else I need?

Also, super excited!

EXCITING! Agility is so much fun, you guys are going to have a blast! I brought clicker, TONS of treats (Mu's slightly reactive still), tug toys and her mat. She stayed on her mat when we weren't actively working and there was a noticeable difference in her focus when I forgot it.

I'm a little late... :p

A slip lead if you have one! It is SO much easier to use compared to a regular leash, which since this is foundations you may not be doing a TON of off leash work (at least we didn't lol).

You've pretty much listed everything else I bring. I hope you had fun :D

The class was great to my limited knowledge!

We started with teaching the dog to go through the jump with the pole on the ground from different angles and then to wrap back around to your side.

Then worked on the dogs switching sides while going forward and then the follow me game where we were alone in the ring with your dog loose and just supposed to choose to follow you. Well, Traveler first had to pee on a pole because he had been behaving.

But overall I really really liked it! My boy was really good. Incredibly vocal, no leash manners and annoying but god I love his focus.

He did keep offering back leg lifts and almost handstands at the jump, would randomly jump into my arms and we were positioned at our jump right by the A frame and my god he wanted it. SO BAD. Everytime he could he would go over and stand on his hind legs straining towards it and then crouch down and get ready to spring up onto it from the side with me going NOOOOO

Cool! You know Traveler has to do agility now. You have no choice in the matter. :D
I knoooooow! It's half the reason I avoided for so long. I knew it would draw m away from everything else and it totally is going to. I've been drilling SaraB since I got home for info.

I will say it was nice going in with a dog who is older and already very good at shaping, reading body language, good understanding of how to use his own body and focus. The instructor was lecturing before we started anything about the need to really really work on focusing and checking in and the whole while Traveler and Macky are sitting/laying/standing and staring at us.

Though Traveler never did stop making noises and would randomly try and get me to do pivots with him :rofl1:

Congrats! It is SO addicting!

I'm on pins and needles wondering if Mia's class will continue. 2 of the dogs dropped out and now they say they may have to wait for the next level to find more students. Ack! I find out next week.

I'm also waiting for a foundation class with Beau but am starting him with exercises right now. I must be crazy starting two dogs at once. :yikes:

LOL the auto-attention exercise was so funny. Macky already has "a serious staring problem" according to my sister, LOL. Of course she's just boring holes into my soul with her spaniel eyes while the instructor talks.

Macky was used for a few demos and earned the nickname "Shark Mouth" from the instructor for the way she takes treats. :rofl1:
