Today was the perfect fall day for picture-taking. Partly cloudy, clear blue sky but with enough clouds to diffuse the sun. Grass is still green but not overwhelmingly so.

But the only picture I took all day was a single shot of my dog's butt. On my cell phone, no less.

Ah well, it was a good day :)

Thanks guys, we did have fun :). And yes sassafras of COURSE Mira's harness had to be purple...lol!

Actually it's kind of funny...RBark sent me this harness back in 2009 because it was too small for Kobe and I wanted to try roller/bikejoring with Kim. It's too big for Kim because under her coat she is slab-sided and bird-like. There's nothing there to fill out the harness. Tried anyway and let's just say it didn't go well.

Fast forward to this summer and I started to take Mira to the river on days we didn't go to the lake. Trouble is that it's a 2-mile walk from parking lot to access point, along the bikepath. Takes too long to walk and with my knee being out for a month or two I couldn't run so dusted off the rollerblades and started using those (my bike is a road bike with high pressure tires...not something I was to ride with a dog in hand). At first Web came too but once Mira figured out what was up she started sprinting from the car all the way to the river. Mira's extended trot is a dead run for Web so when she runs he doesn't have a chance. So I was rollerblading trying to keep up with Mira while carrying Web lol...then he would get to run back. Graceful? No. Trying finding a backpack for a 20lb dog...not easy.

Then I remembered the X-back in a drawer so dug it out and put that on her...-and it fit perfectly. Go figure. And it's even in her color. She's not quite as tall as Kim at the shoulder but she had broader shoulders and more spring to her ribs so fills out the harness better. She wasn't thrilled until she figured out that she is allowed to pull in the harness and now will run all the way to the river while pulling me. This trip is the first one where I wasn't helping for most of it...just past here the trail was littered thickly with leaves and if you've ever tried rollerblading on damp leaves...I doesn't work. She glanced back when he felt the additional weight then settled into it and held her pace, running while pulling my full weight. Was proud of my retriever girl lol. Hopefully I can get an urban harness for Kim so she can't back out of it and get them running together soon. With Mira already havig the gist of it, I think Kim will have more confidence to lead out and go. Ideally I'll get an all-terrain ready bike at some point to go on dirt trails.

...wow that really turned into a novel over one butt pic lol
