ok so me and a friend went to go for our evening walk down my driveway ..then down the country road before it rained and we turned off my driveway and at first glance (mind you it was a far off glance) thought we saw a coyote laying in the middle of the road. After calling back my babies who walk loose with me (other than Love and Buddie) We slowly approached and it appeared to be a heeler mix or shepherd (dunno she is medium sized). Just petrified but she looks very pregnant. She could not get to her feet and she thought I was going to hurt her. she has a gash on her face and she doesnt make eye contact. I spoke to her gently and sat down next to her and just pet her for awhile ot sooth her and see how she reacted to me. I tried ot encourage her to stand but she just didnt have the gumption to stand let alone walk back to my house. (couldnt leaver her there) Then I carried her home. I have her alone by herself and she is just infested with Fleas..she is older has nasty teeth and has had litters B4 by the look of her nipples. and she was definitely abused.

ANYWAYS her temp is normal and I wouldnt say she is going have puppies like tonight or anything but my 2 closer vets were already closed and wont open till monday but since neither have Xray or ultrasound my best bet will be to take her an hour away to the vet I use for my Wildlife who can do that for her. But thats not an option till monday. And I can have her chip tested there as well.

MEANWHILE her stool is a bit loose and Im gonna have to do something about those fleas..... and once again bomb my house! third time this summer first was from a Fawn..then My bottle pups now her.

she needs a name, any Ideas?

Ok this is a pic of her.. yeah I know the paint in the backround is HORRID! It looked so good colorwise till I used it:yikes: Im going to change it when I have Xtra $$ this winter.

O GRR this makes me so mad b/c I am worried she was dumped and now I have the added crazyness of caring for her and possible pups and although I would make it work if I had to I would be ever so glad to not have to. (that is sooo selfish) any Ideas?

Also by your guessing is she pregnant or just fat? (I can handle fat) I wil get better pics tomorrow.

searching all local ads for missing dogs..though with her state I dont know if I want to find her previous owners.

Awww, I'd call her "Blue" (apt name for a cattle dog!) the one I had was fat like that (we called her wide-glide frequently)
She's gorgeous.

Yeah mine was a red and white ACD and she got tubby...up to 67 lbs at one point while on a DIET. She was spayed too so we knew she wasn't pregnant, just really tubby. It seems like they can be like beagles and are apt to gain weight if not given a ton of exercise.

this is awesome news but Ill still have her checked! Im not really used to the ACD breed my only experience with them was helping rehome pup found in a ditch that was a blue heeler and I have only met one is person and that was in passing.

Sorry I was just so worried I was thinking her age...and not knowing who father was spelled C-section and many other vet bills. Not to mention the cost of raising pups. I am just not fully prepared at this momment to do that.

Bluebelle, what a great name!

BTW, my red and white ACD's name was Blue (blue eyes)...fond memories.

Let's hope she's just tubby and not pregnant!

I hope her back is not injured...i have found a few that could not move at all and that was why. Poor poor baby. There is nothing sadder than a dog that has given up. Tell her Smkie's awful sorry and prays that it's nowhere but up from here. Bless your soul for finding her and taking her home fleas and all.

She does look more overweight to me.

Yeah, that would have been me, too. The BF prays when we go out anywhere that I don't see anything that needs help, because I can't just seem to let things be if they seem like they're in serious distress on the road or whatever and no one else seems to give a crap.

I found a whole litter of kittens in a box by a street lamp in the kroger parking lot. Took them in and of course they all had some kind of intestinal thing, and needed shots and some kind of special icky brown paste that had taurine in it, then there are millions of fleas and vet bills and before you know it they're climbing your drapes and attacking your pants leg as you walk by.

I know you'll do the right thing. I hope she's ok, but you never know especially with a back injury. You're a good person. Many people would see something like that and be like, "Oh, so what?"

The BF is trying to convince me that a shelter dog is the way to go, and sometimes when I hear stories like this I can't help but wonder if he's right.

WELL good news ... she is definitely not pregnant! she is in heat

SHe can walk thank heavens. Learned that the hard way. I let her out of the crate and noticed she was spotting...had to go to the bathroom ..came back she was GONE! the lil girl can boogie..up onto a desk and tore through my screen and out my window. :yikes: Well since she is so chubby she cant run to fast so I went ot and got her. and put her back into the crate.

Anyways I guess her owners care a lil b/c after doing some calling around she didnt bother to call but just popped in on our property. (I was sleeping) and my brother.. "clueless b/c he works all day" told them we didnt have any new dogs. But the Lady told him where she lives and after finding out I had a new dog passed on the info.

I brought her home... couldnt make to much of a scene they were having some party with lots of ppl...though her owners know I dont like how they treat their dog... poor thing didnt want out of our car and just cowered at the ladys feet..who promply bent down.. oh hi girl (her name is "Girl") im not gonna beat you... *a tad weird*

I told them how I found her..how she was just pertified..I got TY for bringing her home.

I said she sure is skittish..yeah she was beat by little children...

ok more later.. I have to feed babies:rofl1:

ok back!

ANyways I tried ot tell them she was in heat..they knew.. They said they would normally breed her to this other dog that they pointed out...nearly 3 times the size of her... but they had him nuetered b.c everytime she goes into labor she has seizures..I said well you should spay her b/c she is to old for pups anyways. ...O no we cant do that she will have a seizure and die...I cant comprehend.

Then she goes o yeah all are dogs are S/N (all being 2 other dogs) EXCEPT or breeding weiners. I nearly died what decent breeder refers to their dachshunds as weiners? they had the "breeders" in a chicken coop. ok well it was like a chicken coop ..nipples dragging I was about to steam.

I will be back to check on "Girl" and will make a call if I have to.

they said they are going to build "Girl" a cage tomorrow.

some pics I took this morning if "Girl" (note her nipples combined with her fatness made it seem possible that she was pregnant.

its no wonder with her weight and the heat yesterday that she was to tired to get up, *shakes head*

Poor baby....I am so glad you were there for her, and I'm guessing from what I've learned about you on your posts, that you'll be "visiting" her occasionally, just to make sure she's ok. Thanks for all you do for those who can't help themselves.

yes I will be "checking" in and being neighborly since they just moved in and all. Besides she is still wearing one of my collars :yikes: that also happens to have my phone # in it.

I did tell them they could get her a shot so any breedings wont "take" since she has cant be spayed yet she shouldnt have more puppies.

Oh wow! You are soooooo much kinder than the average person. What you do with regards to helping animals and people in need is above and beyond. That poor girl. That she was cowering like that makes me so sad. I hope you can stay in touch and maybe make an impression on these people. There are just so many people who mistreat animals. Bless you.

went and checked on "girl" today. no one was home but she was out and about..stood and barked from a distance. turned into a huge barking ordeal as the 3 other loose dogs joined in..then the "weiner" breeders..
