If I say "I love you" to Zach when he's sleeping, he says it back in his sleep. Always.
If I say something to the computer screen, Milo jumps up on my lap and looks at it.
Milo hangs around while we watch Jeopardy. When the daily double is found, he dashes across the room as if the noise is shooting out of the tv and through the house.
When my friends tell me cute things their parents did when they were kids.
Banana Split pop-tarts.
Text messages.
Planetariums.
Boats.
Laser tag.
Crossward puzzles.
Cinnamon bun ice cream.
Cake batter ice cream.
Peppermint ice cream.
How if my mom and me fight, she will never, ever admit she's wrong. But I know she knows she is when she goes and buys me chocolate or a new book.

THis morning I open the door. Pepper steps out. SHe steps like a lady a few more feet. NOT the race to the horizon and gone of the past. A man is walking down the road. HE is less then 12 feet away now. SHe turns and looks at me, i smile at her, her tail wags, no bark, no run up to him, she just watched him walk on down the road then stepped a few and looked up at her trees. SHe has finally got that what happens on the street is NOT her business. No leash, no fence. No hot collar, no need. I wrote this to the mods earlier but thought i would put it here. THis puts the biggest smile of all on my face. Pepper rawks big time.
