I just don't see it, not even a VERY poorly bred Mastiffe.......He looks like a boxer boxer/mix to me.

Looks like a Boxer to me! I have to giggle, though. What is it with shelters and mastiffs? When I first saw Zeus on petfinder, they had him labeled as a "Mastiff mix". How could anybody look at a big, doofy hound dog and think "mastiff"?
