Got on a new birth control pill and other than a few days of nausea at first..
nothing is happening.
So my vent is that I'm suspicious.
No way this was this easy. This was the first kind I tried.

Waiting for the other shoe to drop and wondering each second when my body/emotions are going to turn on me is no fun.
I've never had an issue with mine. I occasionally got nausous when I first started it...now no problems. No swings of emotion (well, I have emotional swings, but I think that has to do with my current situation versus the medication), no weight gain, no feeling sick. Quite nice, actually.

I'm on the generic for Sprintec.

Lucky you :(, I have tried every combination of bc there is & nothing works for me. Either I bleed all. The. Time or I gain a bunch of weight because I am bloated all the time :/. Plus I smoke so I really don't want to double (on top of the fact that smoking doubles the chances alone) my risk for a stroke or hear attack :p.

My vent: my shoulder is really bothering me today, & today I just noticed that when I move it back & forth, there is this "tic" I can feel, like a "catching" feeling if I put Moorhead hand over it while I'm moving it :/ I don't know that that means & I don't have any money for a doctor. If I had I would have gone when I was first injured -_-.

I also went to visit my grandmother today, who is passing away from cancer. She is 96 & has had a healthy, great life up until she was diagnosed five years ago. She is such a sweet, wonderful person & it hurts me so to think she is ending her life suffering & in pain, & withering away :( :(. I am also sad for mom, who this is hardest on because she & Gran are close.

I was on that for about 3 years; worked great and then this spring I went all "rahr everyone including myself must die!", which is what has been happening every three years for the last decade. So, time for something new!

I'm so tired.
I had a horrible nights sleep last night.
Didn't get a break at work, it was the day of emergencies so we had pizza delivered and ate on the fly. I was so looking forward to a break because I'm TIRED.
And now after the crazy day, I'm wiped. And could easily just go to bed right now. But it's Friday night and who wants to do that??

Boo. I wanted to reunite Shambles and Squash for the first time since they were babies tomorrow but I went on a trip last weekend and can't swing this one. I am super bummed about it, but I guess now the earth is safe another day.

What are you on? I'm about to start a new variety too.
Jolessa (it's the generic of seasonelle (sp?)
It's the one where you get your period once every 3 months.. but I got on the "just send me another pack right away because I don't even want it every 3 months" plan :rofl1:

$12 a month at planned parenthood.. WINNING!

Intesting thing about BC. If it's the same strength, you can just skip the week where you're supposed to have your period. On most BCs (excluding ones like Tri-whatever) you can just continue taking the pills and have a period whenever you want. Sprintec is $9 without insurance. (Which is also one you can just continue taking. Like Seaonsale/iqe but not as expensive.) Most pay it down to $0. :D

(In the 60's BC was advertised as NO PERIODS EVER. It freaked women out, though, so they changed it to once a month. It's not a new concept. ;))

So sorry to hear about your Gran. I will pray for her and for your family. Cancer at any age is terrible. 96 is an amazing lifetime!

That's what the lady at PP told me
but the issue with me is that I travel and run around a lot and wanted them to give me more than one monthly pack at a time (just in case I went somewhere and was towards the end of one so I could start another and not get my period)which proved, with my insurance, to be an issue (they wanted me to pick up a new pack every month)
Jolessa comes with three months in one 'pack' lol so now I only have to worry about getting another one every three months and can travel willy nilly lol

So, curious. I don't usually get periods because of PCOS. But I was told I HAVE to have a period every 3 months to prevent uterine cancer, so I have to take Progesterone for 10 days every 3 months and then stop to get a period. How is it different with birth control?

I've spoken to a few doctors and the consensus is there is no real reason your body has to have a period. It's not necessary and it doesn't affect your health to not have them/skip over them with BC.

Not sure why you would need to have one...I've never heard of uterine cancer being an issue!

I think my new stuff is called Avian? Or something like that. I remember laughing and asking if it was going to make me flighty, because birds.

ETA: Googled it, it's called Aviane and I'm now thinking I don't want to try it at all, given the reviews. A very high portion said on this pill they were extremely moody/depressed, lethargic, body aches and constant spotting. These are not things I need to deal with. And the main company page reads like a bad Google translation job. Not reassuring.

Thought this was a pretty middle of the road pro/con look at it
http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-control/features/no-more-periods

Honestly, having no periods (because of purposely taking hormones to not have one) just does not seem healthy to me at all. I think for some women it can be worth it, but there are no long term studies on it, no real research from what I can tell.

My dr had explained it as being on the pill gives you a "fake" period so there is no reason to do it, that going off the bc was the only way to really have everything g working right.

I have a horrible three months no matter what kind and then it levels out. Last one I took was some generic and it was fine.

My new ob is convinced I'd have never gotten pregnant if I hadn't just gotten off the pill. It kep my system regulated enough. She is going to start me on the metformin for my PCOS after baby.

Totally agree!

I have been off BC since I was pregnant and the difference is amazing. I mean yeah, having a period sucks sometimes and we have to take precautions with sex but it's so mich better for me and for us.

I did the depo provera thing where you are not supposed to have a period ever again. I haf no sex drive anymore and thank God because all I did was bleed non stop for over a year. NOT normal! I realized I kind of just need to let my body do it's thing, what it was created to do

I have awful periods.. they are more than just an inconvenience, they are enough to interfere with school/work/life. Especially when it came to school, I can't afford to be missing classes every month over it. (not to mention the PMS before I would even get my period..)

...also..I am 21 years old with a boyfriend, we are both fresh out of college with life goals and career/academic plans that DO NOT include pregnancy. The supposed risk from taking birth control back to back far outweighs the risk of..you know.. a baby lol
I trust my doctors more-so than anything else... and according to them the "5 day sugar pill" period on the pill aren't necessary or worth the trouble.

Just saying.. on the other side of the coin. Skipping the whole period thing altogether is a no-brainer for me.

While the idea of "letting my body do it's thing" and keeping it natural is lovely.. and got me off the pill in the first place a few years ago.
For me, it just wasn't worth writhing around in agony every 28 days for a week and missing school and just pausing life over it.

Oh I get its sometimes worth it for sure! I am pretty much out of commission for 2-4 days, sometimes more if I am not taking 1,000mg of ibuprofen round the clock and have safe places to change/rest/etc every couple hours. I get it, I do:)

That being said, I personally still dont think there is NO risk. I think there is just not enough information to know. Still totally up to the person on whether or not its worth it, no doubt. I just wish Drs werent all "Oh its totally, completely safe" when we just dont know that. There are Drs too who DONT think its safe.
